Btw, Molly. Remember that house that I said we were thinking about buying to rent to our kids and their friends? We made a low offer on it today and they accepted it this evening as written! That was a suprise! :D

I'm up to 36 crocheted squares. But don't you think we should start thinking about sending our stuff. With all the squares and hats, etc. that everyone has done, it is probably going to be pretty expensive to mail them, if we don't send them pretty soon.

Probably a good idea to start thinking about a date.

Who ever sends the package, make sure it says

FOR CHARITY-NO VALUE
if not, it will not be accepted by Africa.

Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box and Priority Mail Board Game Large Flat Rate Box...$60.95

Is the US mail the only way to send them?

Great idea....push them down into a bag and use a vacuum method to reduce their size.

I don't have a vacuum to s*** out the air, but I can put the squares/hats in a ziplock bag and roll the bag to try to get as much as out as possible.

Check out my post near the bottom of page 14. I don't think it makes much difference if we mail smaller packages once a month or 1 large one. It'll all be the same in the end. I haven't been home long enough in the last few weeks to get together with my knitting group, but I'm still hoping my friend will be able to get a sponser to pay for the mailing. I'll try and talk to her soon. We'll need a letter composed and I still like the idea of each of us having a picture taken of ourselves knitting in front of our computer with our pile of squares, etc. next to us.

Thank you
I am using double strands of yarn, so I'm having fun trying to match up colors.
I know it probably doesn't matter, but I don't want the little ones getting an ugly hat
:)

I went to our Walmart today looking for hats.
So far, ours haven't gone on sale.
I should have bought some at regular price, but my brains weren't thinking and I didn't put any in the basket
I will go back in a few days to see if there are still any.

Oh Molly!!!! You don't have to clean up your room. If you don't want that seen take the picture in front of someone elses computer with your hats piled around you. That's all I'm suggesting: you, a computer, and squares/hats.
BTW - I LOVE your most recent hat. The colors are beautiful. I still haven't had time to get out and get a loom. I'm also willing to bet that our hats aren't on sale yet since it's still cold and snowy here. We still need them!
I texted my friend today about mailing the squares and she said that she'll see what she can do. If that doesn't work out I have a couple of other ideas.
