Fruitcakes Friday@ the MSC
Good morning BN. Our own Key West BNer, Ravi is the Fruitcake of the week on RM. His show runs this morning and I think Sunday.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Good Morning Bill -- even though my birthday is over it's still the "Month of Linda" so I get to continue the celebration with friends hosting dinner and hopefully see some fireworks from the homecoming event at a local college that's almost in their backyard

G'morning, Bill and Linda!
I heard of bit of Ravi on the radio, so fun that it's someone we know.
Have a great weekend, Linda!!
Off to work - still nice to say that.

Morning BNers
Fyi...when your house gets to be a certain age, things start breaking. Recently we have replaced the fridge, had a/c problems, replaced a toilet and now more plumbing trouble. A toilet was leaking so Larry closed the valve and broke it. So we don't have any water.
I forget how much we use water until it is gone.

We've been fairly fortunate in our 34 years of homeownership. Our first home we built and lived there for 8 years so there weren't too many repairs. Our 2nd home was 4 years old when we moved in and we lived there 22 years so that was mostly "mainentance" stuff which included a new roof & HVAC so those were big ticket items. Our current & 3rd home was also a new build....almost 6 years in and so far, so good. We plan to move out and go south before it starts needing stuffspringparrot wrote: ↑September 28, 2018 12:11 pm Morning BNers

We had this one built 18 years ago. Found out that the PVC has turned brittle. Larry turned it slightly and snapped. Had a friend repair the leak. He recommended that the house be repiped but doubt that will happen anytime soon.Saltx3 wrote: ↑September 28, 2018 1:33 pmWe've been fairly fortunate in our 34 years of homeownership. I'm sure the other toilet needs to be redone too.

Re: Fruitcakes Friday@ the MSC
Our house was built in 1941, we bought it 20 years ago and tore the roof off and put on a second story, so it's all new. The kitchen was remodeled a few years before we moved in and it has new plumbing and wiring but the rest of the original house is still knob & tube wiring and the main floor bathroom is all original. I recently put new washers in the bathroom sink and could barely turn the water off at the supply valves. I'm afraid to even attempt to replace the supply valves because I'm afraid to mess with the 77 year old iron pipes. Like MsMolly has experienced, every little job turns into a major project when I work on the old part of the house.
I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but sometimes they have really good ideas…..

Yup. It all seems to be a mess.SeattleParrotHead wrote: ↑September 28, 2018 3:19 pm Our house was built in 1941, we bought it 20 years ago and tore the roof off and put on a second story, so it's all new. But at least, the older part of your house isn't PVC. And it won't get brittle.
