Pittsburgh Concert Review

Post by phjim »

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a review of Saturday's show "Buffett knows how to throw a good party".

As my watch struck 8 p.m., Buffett rode a bicycle on stage. He gave a Corona to one of the fans in the front row. Then he greeted the audience and played "On the Road Again," originally done by Willie Nelson. It was one of many covers Buffett performed during the night, and it was probably the best one. Willie wouldn't have sung it any better.

I doubt he handed a Corona to anyone. I bet it was a Landshark.

This reporter obviously doesn't get it. So sad... I pity him. [smilie=sadmeh-gb.gif]

I think that is the first time I ever heard anyone say that a Buffett show was too long! :o

I just sent Cody a nice e-mail about his review, It wasn't rude just an explanation how we work and that alot of people could become offended by this article, We pay alot of money and travel far to to go and see him.

That article is almost as bad as the one someone posted on here recently where the guy made it sound like people literally walk around with parrots on their heads.

It was very nice of him to give everyone a driving lesson in that article. I always read concert reviews for a parking lot exit strategy. That's what they're for.

Have I been missing a political statement in Bama Breeze all this time? I even went back and re-read the lyrics. I'm not finding it. Is it meant to be political?

If he thinks 2.5 hours is too long, he better not get assigned to review a Bruce Springsteen show.

I think he may get the idea.....I sent one also. :D

I told him he should be proud that the concert was so great as it has finally put "Pittsburgh" on the map.

I just sent Mr Cody a little History Lesson. Like how Jimmy has been doing Brown Eyed Girls since I was in diapers. (1981ish)

I would also argue the fact that the lyrics to the song don't make any reference to a hurricane or that the place is even no longer there. The lyrics say "Good God I FEEL at home down there." If it meant the place was no longer there, wouldn't it say felt.

Of course, the video for the song shows a bar that is obviously no more, but since Jimmy didn't write the song, I'd say the video is Jimmy's interpretation of the song.

Plus he needs a new watch. 8 pm sharp on stage? Five minute intermission?

And he likes Everybody's On The Phone. That has the potential to be another bathroom break song.

Yeah show me one concert where Bubba showed up on time.
People were still piling in from the Tailgate circus at 8:05.

Oh and how cool was it that they showed part of the Paris show at intermission? Glad to say the back of my giant head was right in there. Now I have video evidence of my presence as a Paris-head.

This is just one person's honest objective interpretation of the show... obviously not a parrothead, but they shouldn't have to be to go to a show and write a review.

If I had been there, especially in the 3rd row, I'm certain I would have completely disagreed and had a different perspective on most things he commented on, but I don't think he needs to be tarred and feathered for his opinion.

Very true. I think its not so much his perspective, but it seemed like a high school newspaper reporter could have covered it better.

Knowing parrotheads, Cody will get quite a few emails, but as Rocher puts it, they won't be "rude." It will be a good education.
