My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance

Post by Tiki Bar »

Has anyone seen this on Fox Monday night's at 8pm CST? Poor Randi!!!

I haven't been sucked in to any reality tv shows until this one, but my husband turned it on, and I was caught hook, line, and sinker. The premise is a guy and girl have to convince their families that they're getting married - in a matter of days, after falling in love after 3 weeks of shooting a tv show. If they pull it off, and get them to attend the wedding, they win $1,000,000.

The catch is, she's Polly Purebred with an all-American family, and he and his families are all actors, portraying way obnoxious over-the top unmannerly hippie psychos, basically.

Although incredibly cruel, it is quite entertaining to see what he / they are putting her through, and the extreme struggle it is to her and her family.

I love it!  8)

I love it too. Like you I am not into reality tv but this show is too funny. That Steve does a great job of being obnoxious. Although it is a little cruel what they are doing to Randi's family I still find it funny.

I watched it the first night, just to pick up a few pointers on how to interact with my future in-laws :D . Anyone else notice Steve is the fat guy from the Hungry Man Dinner commercial? I guess Randi didn't see that one...

Last night show was great. Steve got to meet her family. The first night he was very nice, quiet, and polite. The second day with the family he was the complete opposite. Later in the episode his family got to meet hers. Lets just say her family isn't very fond of his family. At the end Steve and Randi announced to their families that they were getting married in three days on national tv. Her family didn't seemto take the news too well.

I didn't see the show until last night. Could someone tell me how they explain to the girl's family why they all have cameras stuck in their faces?? Also, the show's premise is kinda dumb. Supposing for a second that this whole deal really is legit. What would stop her from telling her family the truth when the cameras are off in order to collect the million dollars???

It's just plain silly I tell ya!! :P

There's a repeat of it at the same time Thursday night every week.

The family knows she was going to do a reality tv show - probably thinking it's a Average Joe or Bachelorette type thing (I missed 1st couple) so that explains the cameras. As for her telling the family the truth - they're housed together with the tv crew at all times - don't think she would be able to. I suppose she could attempt to slip a note, but she'd be disqualified from the million if they found out, so I don't think she'd risk it.

ok, it has it's flaws, but there have been some damn funny moments!

I think my favorite part so far has been where Steve's family and Randi were in the hot tub and Steve's sister was floating face down trying to see how long she could hold her breath. Also when Steve's father took off his swim trunks in the hot tub.

That was great! "This jet's treating me like a prom date!"

Last night wasn't quite as funny as past shows... I think the Coy's are being unreasonable, but I could be biased! My husband was fat and obnoxious, but our families didn't balk when we won our wedding and got married at a week's notice! Although we had been dating for 10 months, which is a bit different than a couple weeks, but still! We weren't engaged!

The highlight last night was Steve's mom requesting some "simpler" hors d'ouvres for the wedding in addition to the sushi etc... rice krispy treats and hot pockets or pizza rolls!!!

Tiki,

What is the older brothers problem? I mean I can understand his concern but still its NOT his wedding.

I agree 100%... it's her life, not his. Whether or not he thinks she is making a mistake, he should at least be there for her.

Next week's previews look quite interesting!

Also I was wondering why Randi was putting her family through this. After looking at her and her family its not like they need the money. Looks like they are doing pretty well.

WOW! Surprises last night! They lead us to believe members of her family either wouldn't attend, or would surely object when given the opportunity. Turned out they let Randi proceed to "I Do" after all...

Good ending!
