I read a lot of crime fiction. Not sure why since 70% of my job is dealing with real life crime. But they are no brained novels 😀

Flagship by Mike Carlton.

A very weighty tome about HMAS Australia (II) around the time of the Second World War.

Really enjoyed a fly fishing memoir called, “Nine Passes, Fly Fishing Through The Past And Presnet of The High Sierra.”

Nine Passes, Todd Bruce’s deeply personal account of his 300-mile backpacking expedition through the Sierra Nevada, is informed by the author’s vivid sense of history and enduring love of the land. Retracing the route of Charles McDermand, an outdoorsman and writer whose landmark 1946 travelogue The Waters of the Golden Trout Country sparked a national interest in the region, Bruce draws upon his fly fishing expertise and his keen familiarity with the land to illuminate the subtleties of the Sierra Nevada’s flora, fauna, and topography.

Now I’m on a mission to identify and tie all this fly patterns he and McDermand mention, and that’s not so easy.

Also rereading Ed Abbey’s, “Desert Solitaire,” after my first, after way to many years, trip to Arces and Canyonlands National Parks. And two books that are sort of a devotional type read; Walt Whitman’s, “Leaves of Grass,” and Cheryl Strayed’s, “Brave Enough.”

Just finished Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. Memoir of growing up in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe during the civil war, crazy story and true. Well, as true as a person's childhood memories are, that is.

Also just read Flat Broke with Two Goats. Very annoying memoir.

Waiting for my hold on The Great Alone. Another memoir, this time living in Alaska. If you know me, you know I love to read about and watch shows about roughing it in the wild, while I snuggle on the couch under a cozy blankie and sip my red wine.

Linnie, have you read Gone Girl? Another very suspenseful book!
No but I’ve heard of it. Is it a movie as well or is my memory fading(again)

I am actually reading Jimmy Buffett: A Good Life All The Way by Ryan White.

I am halfway and really enjoying it so far. He is not shocking me with info but its cool to hear some stories about Jimmy in the ol Key West days and the culture of Key West in those days.

Yes, Gone Girl is also a movie, but as usual, SO MUCH of the novel was left out of the movie. Ugh. Book much better!

I really enjoyed this book. Although, the first half of the book was much better than the second half. He seemed to hit the 90's with Jimmy and just rushed it. I guess the focus was based on the Mville business but I really enjoyed the early day stories and I am sure if he dug deeper enough he could have found some good 90's stories and even pre 5 o clock somewhere ones.

I sure hope Jimmy writes his own bio with untold stories.

And, who would have thought a Chi Chi's Happy Hour gimmick would have started a half billion dollar business. That was cool to learn!

I can't help it if I love detective novels (two that feature cats and one that has a corgi sidekick  )! They soothe my soul....
I'm in the middle of reading the Rise of the Horde. It's a World of Warcraft novel. It's pretty good even if you don't know much about World of Warcraft, but if you do, I think you'd enjoy this book and the other WoW novels a lot. I had no idea how good they were until I finally pulled the trigger and gave them a shot.
