My predictions:
AL EAST
New York
Toronto
Boston
Tampa Bay
Baltimore
Sorry, I know there are a lot of Red Sox fans here, but they had a below-average off-season, and the Blue Jays had the best off-season in baseball. The Yankees take this division based on the best 1-9 lineup in baseball, one of the best bullpens in baseball, and a good (not great) rotation.
AL CENTRAL
Cleveland
Chicago
Minnesota
Detroit
Kansas City
Cleveland rides a great pitching staff past the Sox, whose line-up is just not good enough to repeat. Minnesota is still pretty good, too...and Detroit and KC have improved, but not enough. This may be the best division in baseball soon.
AL WEST
Angels (I refuse to call them the LAAOA)
Texas
Oakland
Seattle
Tight battle for the title, and a tight battle for third. This division has 2 clear tiers.
NL EAST
New York
Philadelphia
Atlanta
Washington
Florida
This is the year the streak ends. I like what the Mets have done, and Beltran will be better. Philly and Atlanta give them a run, but the Mets previal. Florida is a nightmare, Washington is just average.
NL CENTRAL
St. Louis
Chicago
Milwaukee
Houston
Pittsburgh
Cincinnati
Tough, tough division to call. St. Louis and Houston have come back to the pack, Chicago and Milwaukee are improved, Pittsburgh is getting there, too. Only Cincy has no shot here.
NL WEST
San Diego
Los Angeles
San Fransisco
Arizona
Colorado
This division just sucks. Pittsburgh would win this division if they were in it, and I picked them for 5th in the Central.
AL EAST
New York
Toronto
Boston
Tampa Bay
Baltimore

my predicions - Philly will stink once again. There have been no off season moves that have impressed me, so as a true Philly fan I have no reason to believe that there will be any difference in their play.
"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.
And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"

A full season from Ryan Howard, a full season from Abreu, they dumped Thome and his salary. They'll compete. They won't win.mings wrote:my predicions - Philly will stink once again. Abreu is crap. His numbers are hollow. he's not good in the clutch. NO ONE in philly likes him. Me included.CaptainP wrote:A full season from Ryan Howard, a full season from Abreu, they dumped Thome and his salary. They'll compete. AL EAST
Toronto
Because I want the Yankees to lose
AL CENTRAL
Cleveland
The White Sox shot their load last year
AL WEST
Angels
Too much money for the rest of the division
NL EAST
New York
Because I'm a Mets fan
NL CENTRAL
St. Louis
They may not be as good as last year, but nobody else in the division improved enough to catch them.
NL WEST
San Diego
Why not?

I can help in that area.CaptainP wrote:Only need 5340 more posts to catch last year's thread!

They're going to be the trendy pick of the year, but they're not quite there yet. Good, exciting young team, but that division is tough, and since their infield is, on average, 23 years old, there are still some growing pains to be had. I predict 87 wins, 3rd place. Next year, possible playoffs.LIPH wrote:I almost said Milwaukee for the NL Central but they don't have enough to catch St. Louis.

I picked them because I don't like the Yankees and I think the Red Sox are like a dysfunctional family.RAGTOP wrote:Toronto is the chic pick in the East and everyone is picking them because of some offseason moves. They will once again end up third behind the Yanks and Sox.

Disagree. Combine their good off-season with the Red Sox not-so-good one, I think the Sox have faded.RAGTOP wrote:Toronto is the chic pick in the East and everyone is picking them because of some offseason moves. They will once again end up third behind the Yanks and Sox.
Where's the starting pitching?
Who's the closer?
Are there any infielders that can hit?
