What Big Actor/Actress NEVER Becomes The Character?

Post by Desdamona »

Thinking about how certain actors disappear into their roles,
http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48217
it reminded me of Jimmy Stewart, who NEVER did, and was
a big star anyway. Every character became Jimmy Stewart.

Pretty much the same for John Wayne.

Jim Carrey

Dramatic or funny, to me he's still Jim Carrey.

I love him, don't get me wrong, but he's always Jim Carrey.

Disagree somewhat.
All Baldwins, that is, save Alec.

He is one THE funniest hosts ever to front Saturday Night Live...
yet he was never sharper or nastier than casino boss, Shelly Kaplow, in The Cooler. 8)

The rest of of the Baldwins just hang onto his coattails

One actor who is always the same is Billy Crystal. (When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers)
One actress... hmmm. Can't think of one...
$#@&...only Vegas again?? Padres ...gotta start believin'!Bring on '14 Spring Training!

Julia Roberts kinda comes close on that one. She's always Julia Roberts to me, even in Erin Brockovich. I love her as an actress, but she doesn't take me away like some do.

Jennifer Lopez. Haven't seen her in a lot of stuff, but in the Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman film last fall, she just wasn't very convincing at all. And you're totally right on John Wayne. He played that same cowboy so many times!! But he was a very good cowboy.

Halle Berry

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Adam Sandler.....he is, and always will be the guy from Saturday Night Live. I do love his movies, however.
