Doesn't look good.
Came home without her. They did blood work and her white count is high (leukemia) her sugar is high (pancreas) her temp is low (shutting down) and an enzyme indicating pancreatic issues is also high.
Going to stay the night and have antibiotics and IV. Dr will call me tonight and in the morning. I will need to make my decision by then.
I love Jenny dearly, but I don't believe in prolonging the inevitable. You can't explain to an animal and it is very obvious that she is in pain and not happy.
Our Vet is awesome. She reassured, this is only timing and had nothing to do with getting Marley. I am trying to convince myself of that. I know she has been acting different over the last year, but I think the new addition may have exaggerated the decline.
I will keep you all posted and thanks so much for the love and wishes.

I can only imagine the pain of this decision but know whatever choice you make for Jenny, you being her Momma, it's the right choice. She sounds like a pretty sick kitty. More kitty prayers and hope for the best...come what may.
BTW, Marley is adorable!

I've had cats since Murph, and I love them dearly, but as of yet, not one that is as dedicated to me alone, as Murphy was.
Please know that we feel your pain with the decision you have to make..and know that you will do what is best for Jenny, as painful as it might be for you.

You guys are all so awesome.
This is a place where you can feel free to be who you are.
Not that I love mine any more that other people, but I guess when you don't have kids they tend to take on a different role rather than just pets. Jenny was my first cat. When we got married Gary already had a cat, so when we got Jenny (she found us as a stray) she was kinda mine. Once we had to put Harry down she became very close to both of us.
All I am asking is that she have a peaceful night and whatever news we hear in the morning will help us decide although I already know in my heart what it will be.
Your support overwhelms me.

You know your vet is right... it's just a timing thing.
But it always seemed like a new kitty "adopted" us
just before we lost one. Maybe it's "kitty fate" or
something like that. Whatever it is, it just is, and
we've been thankful for it. A house with no cat is a
house lacking a certain beauty and grace.

Umm-hmm. Exactly. Lots of prayers your way tonight, Lori. Jenny is in the best of hands if she's meant to stay a while. Been in your shoes, as so many of us have, and it's always sad and stressful.caly wrote:must be that door, window thing that Maria sang about on The Sound Of Music?Desdamona wrote:You know your vet is right... it's just a timing thing.

But don't rule out a miracle!

Lori ...
Hang in there ... {{ hugs }}
I know it is easier said than done. I have been in your shoes with
cats, ferrets, and our retired police K9. Be strong for Jenny and have faith your vets abilities !
When you see Jenny in the morning ... she will tell you what she wants.
She will give you a look ... TRUST ME ... she will let you know if she is in for the fight or its time to cross the rainbow bridge.
I wish there were something more I could do ... just know that I, like many here, understand and would take away the pain both you and Jenny are feeling, if I could.
I will be thinking positive, healing, loving thoughts tonight for you all.
Don't forget to still LOVE Marley ...
