Phin Power for Red Line Commuters in DC

Post by bravedave »

Real bad collision between Metro trains. Six dead, many injured, Red Line shut down from Fort Totten to Takoma Park. This is a rarity -- only the second fatal accident since the system started in the 70s. Keep a good thought for the Metro riders on the northeast side.

I just saw this on CNN.com. Praying for the families of those lost and for healing for those surviving. One of the things I love most about DC is their metro system. Such a tragedy.

This is so surreal. I rode the Red Line at least 2 times a week if not 3-4 times/week this past semester and hundreds of times before that. I cannot imagine going through a horrific accident like this.

PHIN POWER, thoughts and prayers heading out to the families of the victims.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

When I first heard about the crash my heart went into my throat. My youngest daughter is in DC for her George Washington Univ orientation, and she was taking the red line in from a friend's house first thing in the morning. Once I found out it was an afternoon train I relaxed a little.

Lots of NH phin power for the survivors and the families of the deceased.

My best friend is a VP at AU and I know that many of his staff take that train-when I talked to him late last night, he was still checking on staff.

My thoughts go out to all affected by this tragedy.

I have a lot of friends staying in DC over the summer who are relying on the Red Line everyday to get to their jobs and internships. Thankfully they're all ok.
