Droid phone for Verizon
Anyone check one out yet? Reviews have been pretty good. Seems like the first real competitor with the iPhone. A little lacking in apps, but I'm not all about the apps anyway.

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
Rumor is that verizon is launching a app store for the droid and any lg phone that is a envy model or a touch screen. bad news is the apps are over priced and just having the app store fuction on your phone will cost you 1.99 a month.

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
See, apps aren't really my thing. I'm more of a calendar/e-mail kind of gal who wants to have the Internet at my fingertips. I don't mind the $1.99 for access to the app store and would only buy apps that are useful and make my life more productive (not that stupid "watch my beer glass empty when I tip my phone upside down" app). Plus, the Google integration features make me very, very happy because I am a tried and true Google girl.

Something like this may make me wait a little while longer, though.

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
I have the my touch 3g powered by google and love it. Better than the iphone for a number of reasons, more free apps, interface is easier to use and the browsing is great. If you want a phone designed for surfing the web I cant think of anyone better than google to design one. The email can be a little questionable at times but other than that its awesome. The android market is easy to use and there are around 80,000 apps most of them are free. The iphone may be better for media but any phone powered by google gets my vote. Theres even an app that tells you where the police have roadblocks and speed traps.
I know I dont get there often enough but god knows I surely try

The commercial looked like a movie trailer. Even made by Lucasfilm.
I'm disappointed that it was a phone.

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
Two guys in my office have bought android based phones, one the Motorola Driod and the other is one from HTC. Both love them. The app store already exists - www.android.com/market. I can't wait to get one.

Flock has one or has been waiting for one
It's simple, closest thing to an iPhone on Verizon but not quite as good.
How'd I do?

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
oh, and Mal? IIRC from this morning's FB status updates, John (polly roger) just got a droid...and you know how techie he is!
I"m clueless about all these phones, although I'm starting to see the value of a phone i can go online with, given the amount of time I've spent in the last 8 months or so picking up folks at airports, lol. Is there a Smart Phones for Dummies book? And maybe an apps for dummies book as well. Are certain apps only available for specific phones/carriers? Maybe I need smartphone school...or tutoring.
The only one I've even attempted to use was my bro's blackberry...he had me write and send an email while he was driving us to the airport. I wanted to kill myself by the time I got it done.
I've been with AT&T since the dawn of time, but I'm so disgusted with their customer service (or lack thereof) I'm ready to bail if I need to.

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
I'm not sure -wouldn't the "big red dot" be T mobile -Verizon is a big check mark & if he is talking about the My Touch 3g that is T mobile -I'm so confused & I'm soberBrown Eyed Girl wrote:Allow me to give it a shot...fabduo wrote:Okay so you didn't understand him either??buffettbride wrote:Too much tequila?Capt.Flock wrote:I have one been waiting for it simple the closest to a IPhone on big red not quit as good though

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
No, he wrote "not" not "dot". I am assuming big red refers to Verizon...it seems to be their color of choice. But as Mal pointed out, I'm sober so I may not be any good at decoding Flockese...fabduo wrote:I'm not sure -wouldn't the "big red dot" be T mobile -Verizon is a big check mark & if he is talking about the My Touch 3g that is T mobile -I'm so confused & I'm soberBrown Eyed Girl wrote:Allow me to give it a shot...fabduo wrote:Okay so you didn't understand him either??buffettbride wrote:Too much tequila?Capt.Flock wrote:I have one been waiting for it simple the closest to a IPhone on big red not quit as good though

I'll still take my Palm Pre over these or the iPhone.

I'm hoping the iPhone eventually moves to other carriers.

Re: Droid phone for Verizon
Why is simply talking on a phone not enough?
I look at the dorks at work texting away all day and think wow wouldn't it be awesome if they'd invent something where you could actually talk to another person?
My phone is pretty basic. Not even a camera. I downloaded a ringtone the other day and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread
