Axe Blasphemy!

Post by Down2TheC »

I bought a little "baby martin" last summer for a trip to the BVI's that's coming up this month. But the stock face was yellowish fake wood grain HPL. I decided this was my beater axe so I want it festive for the drunken nights at anchor.

I'm not sealing this version since I s*** at sky and seas, but for my first venture into acrylic painting, it'll do for now. I'll peel it off and go again when I have more talent.

And a logo for the headstock.

Two weeks doing that...(once on canvas, then on the face) I gots the cabin fever bad!

P.S. Really? You can't say suck? :P

I started reading this thread and before I saw the pictures my first thoughts were "Who brings an axe to the BVI?" "What are you gonna be chopping down?" and "Who cares who makes it, as long as the blade is sharp you should be fine."

VERY nice work. I'd buy one (if I thought I could ever learn how to play)

I'd buy one and hang it the wall with my JB LPs...

Echoing everybody else. Looks great, and totally appropriate for the purpose.

I really really really like that. I think it looks better than the one Martin is selling now. Very nice job. My beater axe is a Big Baby Taylor...if I send it to ya, you think you could do that to it? :D
When you anchor off of Tortola, make sure to hit Quito's, and say hi from me. Man I love the BVI's....I have to get back there soon !!
I just looked at your profile and see that you're a diver too. Make sure you dive The Rhone....fantastic dive!

Thanks all. It was a product of perseverance rather than skill or talent. A real artist could do that in an hour.
Not sure if I'll get to the RMS Rhone. I'm with a crew of 4 non-divers. Hoping to convince them to snorkel there while I jump on a dive trip.

I assume Quito's is Roadtown? I'll snap a pic if we get there. We're chartering out of Sea Cows bay right next door though so maybe we'll get there by cab on the last night.

Oh... and here's why it needed the festive treatment. blah.
