Ash Cloud Causes Flight Cancellations in UK http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/04/15/vo ... explainer/
Clouds of ash rising to 55000 ft from Iceland's Eyjafjallajoekull [sp?] Glacier volcanic eruption have spread eastward, causing flight cancellations in the UK and elsewhere to avoid possibly catastrophic aircraft damage.
While thousands of people face disruption to their travel plans over the next few days, there are a couple of silver linings to this volcanic cloud: tonight's sunset could be spectacularly red, and much of the election-weary public will be spared a visit from high profile politicians.
Lib Dem Vince Cable has had to cancel a visit to Edinburgh, while the Borders have narrowly avoided a visit from Tory shadow business secretary Kenneth Clarke.
