I heard that this is the first time in the World Cup that neither finalist from the previous World Cup has not made it to the knockout round. Is it the first?
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Before I get completely p*** tomorrow at Alpine Valley for the show I'd like to wish the USA good luck against Ghana.

USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

I hope after the US wins Jimmy mentions it during the show, that would be awesome.

Cheers

Thanks, wiscoleeds.
And in the same vein of good-sportsmanship, I offer England the assistance of the US in defeating Germany.

Good luck to the USA in their quest for glory against Ghana. It's a crying shame though that more people accross the "pond" don't take football sorry "soccer"! more seriously - when you do you will have a world beating team! At the moment you are having more success on the field than us poor Scots - we have poor teams and no-one to invest in the game here - unlike our neighbours south of the border! :(
There is a group - a very large group, no an extremely large group who support A.B.E. (Anyone But Engerland!) in fact in the highland capital of Inverness they have sold out of German shirts!! :D
I just hope that whoever gets to the final game does it proud and show the world what a wonderfull game this is!

"What an exciting nil-nil draw that was! With both countries advancing to the knockout round!"

I played and coached soccer for 20 years, I loved to *play* the game ..... and I still, as your average American sports fan,
can't get excited about watching *the beautiful game* played to a nil-nil tie with both teams somehow benefiting.

Another thought. If you writhe on the ground in horrific pain (trying to draw a penalty from the referee) for more than say, 20 seconds or so, then you need to automatically come out of the game for a few minutes. Drives me nutz to see these *actors* moaning like they'll never walk again, then 30 seconds after they get the call, be sprinting full speed down the field.

Take the acting out of the sport.

That would mean Italy and France would be permanently barred from the World Cup. :P :P :P :P

Bravedave I hope so! but if England gets to be hosts in 2018 - if ever there were incentives for us Scots to get one over the Sassanachs that would be our time! I can just imagine a Scotland v Engerland (the oldest international football match in the world) final at Wembley with yet again about 75,000 screaming "jocks" in the stadium and a couple of hundred million folks around the world backing us to beat them - looking for another pitch invasion and a piece of goalpost to take home (ah! memories). But we get beat! so who cares we will have had a good time!

I do not mean to come across as ALL USA ALL the time
I am aware that the rest of the world has great teams and players

but I "think" that if the USA had their best athletes
play soccer from first grade on.. we could kick SSA
just think.. say.. the New york Jets nickel package (with Kyle Wilson)
and Lebron and Kobe with say.. one of MLBs best catchers in Goal
hard to beat.. just my thoughts

ALSO on the forums they are talking about how "tough" it is to play soccer

let's try Lacrosse :pirate: :pirate: :pirate: :pirate:

I am surprised that Argentina got spanked by the Germans yesterday.

What we saw yesterday was a perfect example of why soccer is a "team" game and not a game played by eleven individuals.
The best team won hands down.
Got to admire those f#%king Huns
Well played.
