Next Wednesday is going to be one crazy day of footy! :)

Amazingly, we are now in a fine position to WIN our Group C ...with a little help from Mother England!

If we can prevail in our group stage, we would likely face the likes of Ghana, Serbia, or Australia out of Group D

Should we get through finishing 2nd... good chance we face Germany :o
$#@&...only Vegas again?? Padres ...gotta start believin'!Bring on '14 Spring Training!

If England beats Slovenia and we beat Algeria, would we be 1st or second?
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

England and USA are tied for points right now. I'm guessing it would depend on the goals scored. As SP mentioned above, if the teams earn the same number of points (Win=3, Draw=1, Loss=0), then the standings are decided on goals for/against.
Is that correct?

That means the US is ahead then since we have 3 goals vs. 1 for England if it is goals for.

Nigeria seeks protection for Kaita

"The Nigerian team has asked its government to provide security for midfielder Sani Kaita after his red card during a World Cup loss to Greece prompted more than 1,000 death threats.
Nigeria team spokesman Idah Peterside said Kaita has received the death threats via e-mail from Nigeria ever since he was sent off for kicking out at Greece's Vassilis Torosidis in the 33rd minute of Thursday's 2-1 loss at Bloemfontein."
link: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/ ... 901&ver=us

In other news, Kaita has said he as also received numerous email saying a wealthy businessman needs help in moving a large sum of money and all he needs to do is email this person his bank information. And that he has won the lottery. What luck!

^ that's just sad, but they better take that seriously (someone actually got killed over an "own goal" in a World Cup game)
OTOH the ref that cost the US 3 points on Friday has been sat down by the FIFA (but we still don't get those points back)... Good luck USA, I think you can beat Algeria and a win puts you in.

(BTW if the US and England both win, they would both have 5 points with Slovenia having 4 so it's a moot point if the US wins this game....)

So far my prediction (see page 1) is holding true. I look for USA to beat Algeria and
Slovenia and England to tie. That will put the USA and Slovenia in the next round. :pirate:

As it stands goal-wise, USA would finish FIRST, based on goal differential. :D

Now if England scores more than 2 goals than we do in our game this morning, they would jump into 1st :-?

Now...I'm off to the PUB!!! :D :D :D

What a GREAT day! England and USA advance and England play on SUNDAY....meaning I won't have to miss the game to attend Jimmy at Alpine on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now if only those nasty Huns can get knocked out this afternoon it would be a perfect day.

Cheers
