First Vehicles?
Mine was a Ford Mustang II which was very similar to this that was a gift to me from my parents shortly after I turned 16 in 1978. I'm not sure why it's labeled a "powerful car" in this photo as mine was a hunk of junk that soon made it to the junkyard. Then again, that's what first cars are for as I did drive the living sh*t out of it in those days and on most occasions, it most definitely made it from Point A to Point B.

1964 Ford Falcon - "The Red Tank"
First class stereo with 8 track (with slide mount) cost more than the vehicle.

1977 Volkswagen Rabbit. This looks just like what I had.
I cashed in $1000 in savings bonds that were given to me when I was born, my dad co-signed the loan for the rest. Loved the car, until someone put sugar in the gas tank.

Mine was a silver 1981 Chevy Monte Carlo woth a burgundy landau roof.
I was given the option of a help to buy a car or a graduation party. I opted for neither and asked to have that car that was sitting in our driveway for five years.
My dad and I scraped it down to bare metal, repainted it, dropped a cheap motor in itand was good to go. Man i miss that beast.

I bought one of those pieces of garbage when I live in Milwaukee from a so called "friend" for $300...had to use bungie cords to keep the doors shut, and it was brown making it even more embarassing.SMLCHNG wrote:1977 Volkswagen Rabbit. I think car manufactures need to bring chrone back. Looking at your pic I forgot that I had chrome rocker panels.Gulfbreeze wrote:Had a 76 Monte Carlo at one time...fine looking autobackstreets77 wrote:Mine was a silver 1981 Chevy Monte Carlo woth a burgundy landau roof.

Re: First Vehicles?
500$ 69 Toyota Corona for student teaching in '74.In 2 months it broke down or wouldn't even start 13 times! In one week, the drive shaft snapped and the clutch fell apart,in pieces when we pulled it.The first day of teaching,in sight of the school, the horn shorted and blared one long honk till I tore out the wires.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Re: First Vehicles?

Close enough.... I had an 85
Upgraded to this beauty not too long after

Had way too many good times in that car.
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

1960 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe. I paid $800.00 for it.
I wish I still had it. I sold it when I left for the Navy in 1970.
Mine was a little darker blue than the one in this photo.
