Facebook Parrotheads and BN'ers, I have a special request....

Chase Bank is giving away $2 million one week from today to the top 200 charities receiving the most votes from Facebook users. A charity in our community is ranked number 190 tonight! We need your votes (and those of your friends) to stay in the top 200. The charity is called Coastal Plain CASA, Inc. and it helps foster children move swiftly through the court system in cases of child abuse. Coastal Plain is the region. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. These are specially trained VOLUNTEERS who represent the child and work to see what is in the best interest of these foster children. Our little county in South Georgia has one of the highest child-abuse rates in the state. Anything we can do to help these children is of benefit. $20,000 will enable CP CASA to help 41 more foster children.

That's right, Kay, you can only vote once per charity. BUT if you quickly use your 19 other votes, voting for very low or very high ranking charities (so they don't compete with ours), then you get to give away a gift vote.

I have already received about three gift votes, and I could only use ONE for my Coastal Plain CASA charity. So, I suggest anyone who receives gift votes send them to other people on this list, such as Kay Brook, Penny Ester, those are the only full names I know off the top of my head. Then Kay, Penny, Barbara, Nancy, others can use them to vote for Coastal Plain CASA and count even more toward our goal of $20,000.

People can post when they get their gift votes, so others can choose another name. Complicated, I know, but that's the way it goes!

Thank you to all the BNrs and Parrotheads who voted for Coastal Plain CASAin the Facebook based Chase Community Giving competition among U.S. charities. Final votes and tallies are being collected. Unofficially, we completed the competition at 64th in the nation!!! Out of a total of 200 charities to receive $20,000 or more. 41 additional foster children will have an advocate through this funding. We received 1,964 unofficial votes. When we were at position 188, we received a big push just 24 hours before the end of voting from Trisha Yearwood, who has family here in Tifton. WHEW! We made it!!! Thanks again, Bonnie
