I'm going to be really p*** if another hurricane heads towards the Keys in 2 weeks (or if Dennis does any damage). I need my vacation :x

This may help you keep track of what's happening in Key West to some extent:

I recommend the Western Union sunset cruise, mainly due to the historical significance, and the fact that they have complementary beer, wine, or champagne. Plus while waiting to board, you can grab a stool at the Schooner Wharf Bar right next door. You never know what you might see there.
...someplace farther south, where the water's warm, the drink's are cold, and I don't know the names of the players...

Although the citizens of KW never really leave...

Authorities issued a mandatory evacuation for everyone south of the Seven Mile Bridge at 4 p.m. Thursday. All mobile home residents in the Keys were also ordered to leave. Lines began forming at gas stations and hardware and grocery stores, as people rushed for last-minute supplies. Some people felt they barely had time to get ready for the storm.

"I'm not prepared for this," said Jan Henry, who lives on a sailboat off Key West. "It's just too early for this. I'm used to preparing my boat in August. None of us is prepared for this."

Yep. Yep. Get yourself a boat ( and a fishing license ) and go catch yourself some dinner. Best Keys fishing is in Islamarada. Such a cool place to. Great area for snorkling.

If I could only do ONE thing though and it had to be in Key West I would spend it lounging aroud the Nassau House with DKD .

You have to give credit to CUBA for saving KW from hurricanes year after year...

It isn't because of the Shrine at St. Mary's?

Was just listening to US1 Radio. Power is off all over the island, but is already being restored in parts of the Keys. They certainly dodged a bullet.

Looks like at least one of the Key West web cams was up for a bit anyway.

Thanks for the tips folks. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to use them. The couple my girlfriend and I were going with are deciding to get a divorce instead of go on vacation. Go figure.
