Ahh so nice to this in the who's going thread... Finally. My wife and I are in. It'll be out first show in Atlanta! (We recently moved) Looking forward to the legendary parking lot! Hopefully it's a lot like Cincy with a 9 am start time.

Now the trick is to get tickets. First Saturday show in a while here, so that's gonna be a fast selling show.

If there are any folks coming in from out of town with an RV or related I would be interested in hearing what your typical plan entails? Where do you stay or park on the nights before or after the show? Any local campgrounds you can recommend? Any pre-parties the day before? Anything you can provide would be helpful! We are heading south from the Cincinnati/Dayton area so the tailgate expectations are high!!

Bus tickets booked for 32.50 round trip. Considering going through a ticket broker as I will be working the day tickets go on sale. Looking for a place to stay. I can get two nights at the Travel lodge for under a 100 if I book today. They haven't jumped the price yet. Ticket for lawn from the broker is 109 for a lawn seat, but I will have a ticket. I still come in under the 250, I budgeted for the show. Not bad.

Flying down from Maine to take my sister in Atlanta as a birthday present to her. We grew up in Mobile, so we both have liked JB for a long, long time, but we've never been to many concerts and this is our first JB concert. Looking forward to the concert, the tailgating, the fun people, the whole package. Now I gotta find a Hawaiian shirt...don't see many of those in the Great State of Maine.

Re: Who's going to Atlanta on June 9, 2012
My plan is for me a one of my buddys to hit Charlotte on Thursday drive into Atlanta Friday see the Braves then she the Show on Saturday night then head back to TN on Sunday.........I feel tired already Relaxed but tired from all that driving
My question is how is the tailgating in Atlanta? I have been through the 4pm gate opening in Charlotte and the no tailgating in Bristow and if the tailgating is not going to be great I may change my plans. Thanks for any info and Phins up!

Re: Who's going to Atlanta on June 9, 2012
I've been going to Lakewood for Buffett shows since '98 and the first several years I was so impressed with the creativity of those in the parking lot, a complete aboveground pool, a working volcano, two gooseneck trailers side by side with a beach on top, Uhauls full of furniture and bars, etc. But back then the parking lots opened at 8 in the morning and some even stayed over the night before, sand was allowed and people would truck it in, and there haven't been many Saturday shows.....Now the city owns the facility and they say they don't open the gates till noon although the traffic jam causes them to open earlier (11ish), no sand allowed, gotta pay for parking and the more room you take the more you'll pay, the APHC has their own area but you have to be a member to go into that area, Landshark has their own area and it's supposed to be VIP only (but we've been allowed in the past few years), there just seems to be more restrictions.Landlocked Landshark wrote:My plan is for me a one of my buddys to hit Charlotte on Thursday drive into Atlanta Friday see the Braves then she the Show on Saturday night then head back to TN on Sunday.........I feel tired already Relaxed but tired from all that driving

On the upside: Most who setup a canopy go all out with food and decorations, the RVs do a great job too, there's the trailer-boat that's cool and the Margaritaville motorized chair with the frozen drink machines churning. There's the chair of death (tequila shots), the ice block drink dispensers, and frozen drink machines churning in the luggage storage areas of the RVs. A lot of lot games such as cornhole, limbo, etc., and everyone is friendly and will usually share food and drink.
For those coming in from out of town, it's Atlanta in June and chances are that it'll be hot. Bring water and drink some of it, there are port-a-johns but TP gets scarce round-a-bout 1 as it gets used up quick and the lines get long (had a friend bring a coffee can and a sheet for his girlfriend to use), I like to bring a change of clothes as the parking lot is gravel and dusty, if it's not dusty its cause it rained so you still need a change. Trash is always a problem and I like to bring extra bags, heck they can be used as a rain poncho if needed. There is a creek that runs through the parking lot if you need water for a small pool....Caution: the creek is used when the port-a-johns get busy so you might want to bring your own H20.
Hopefully seeing that its a Saturday show, the grade A nuts will come out and it'll be crazy like it has been in the past.

Being a Saturday show I'm hoping that there'll be so many cars parked out front of the gates that they'll have to open up, say 9:00?mbrace29 wrote:So the parking lots don't open until noon?

Aren't there tailgate lots owned by the concert venue and neighboring lots owned by private parties? I would think those would be rolling before noon!
