Oh no, not the swiss again...

Ok, I have the flights and I have the car. But no plan so far, except to be at MOTM...
I'll arrive in Miami Sun Oct 27 7pm and leave from Miami Mon Nov 11 7pm.
My plan so far is to stay in Miami for two nights and drive down Tuesday Oct 29, leave KW Sun Nov 29 and stay one night in MIA or somewhere in between...

So: If these dates fit into anyone's schedule who needs a ride, maybe one way, maybe both, let me know asap, my timing is somewhat flexible.

Cheers, Mike
Paris, France, September 2010. Paris 2011. Paris 2012. 2013. 2015.
Mansfield MA, Great Woods June 18 2011. And June 2012. And 2013!
Jimmy in Key West, MOTM 2011. Unforgettable! And let's not talk about MOTM 2015

as long as you don't refer to hot tubbing as "Yankee Fondue", it'll be fine.

It saves you the drive up, gives you more time in KW and only adds about $85 to the total airfare from what I’ve found. We did this last year and thought it worked really well. Well that stinks! Since neither SW or JB is booking Nov yet I'm still trying to decide whether to fly all the way or go to Ft Myers first and take the ferry down and back

Well that stinks - since they weren't booking yet and neither is Jet Blue I'm trying to decide whether to go to Ft Myers again and take the ferry down and fly back. I love the perspective when you come in on the Ferry.

I priced rental cars and was somewhat suprised at the costs. we'd be getting it for a cuple of days and it ended up being something like $300 for a tiny car.

if you take the ferry, how do you get to the ferry from the airport, taxi? how much does it cost?

the Ferry from Ft Myers? taxi is probably best, and think it depends on the distance, figure $10-15 from the Ferry Terminal by Dante's to EYW, think that is 2 zones, 2 people. it has been a while since I left the confines of Old Town in a taxi

Sorry, what I meant is how do you get from the Fort Myers airport to the ferry dock in Fort Myers.

Huh what?
I'll pay a bit more then 500$, for a midsize SUV, from Oct 27 'till Nov 11, 15 days.
300$ for an economy for a couple of days seems a bit expensive. What company did you look at?
Alamo/National is one of the cheapest- if I reserve from here, maybe it's different being an US citizen...

I must make a correction. Mike, a little bit ago i went to the Avis site and put in the PH MOTM code and reserved a car for 25-28th for $138 total. P/u at FLL and drop off at EYW (KW). Booked it!
Mike, did you try using the Avis site with the PH MOTM discount code?

Tish taxi, my friends Tish and Andy live in Ft Myers in the winter. Their daughter is not well and they have spent most of this past winter in VT but I think her condition is under control, however, I'm not sure what next November will bring. I may not be able to stay there either.

How big a car did you rent? Can I hitch a ride for part of the cost? Although with GPS I guess I can rent my own :D
