Who's Going To Virginia Beach 7/13??
Apparently I've been summoned.
This is another one within relatively easy driving distance for me and I've never been to Virginia Beach. I might have to think about it. And in my almost 12 years on BN, I'm pretty sure this is the first "Who's going to ..." thread I've started.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

Re: Who's Going To Virginia Beach 7/13??
Make a week of it ..... rent a house on the beach in Sandbridge (just minutes away).
Here's a beaut .... Top Sail - 8 BRs - 9.5 baths - sleeps 20 - only $13727/week and available the week of July 13-20

8 Bedrooms, 9 ½ Baths, and a 13' x 28' HEATED INDOOR POOL! Custom designed and built with the vacationer in mind,
Top Sail takes advantage of the panoramic views of Sandbridge from this three-story "cottage".
Don't worry - there is an elevator too.
The game room on the 1st floor (with a view of the indoor pool) includes foosball, ping-pong and other amusement delights.
The billiard table and entertainment center on the 2nd floor overlook, with a fixed window, the enclosed pool on the ground floor.
On the 3rd floor you will enjoy the living room, dining room, library and media room
as well as a fabulous entertainment kitchen featuring a long breakfast bar with plenty of room for onlookers.
2 dishwashers, 2 stoves w/ovens, 2 sinks and 2 refrigerators make this kitchen equipped for more than one great chef.
Some other amenities to make your stay more pleasurable are a poolside bar with refrigerator, billiard room wet bar,
2 laundry rooms, full bath adjacent to the indoor pool, private bathrooms for each bedroom, 3 whirlpool tubs,
2 bathtubs and 4 showers.
Exterior family fun activities include multi level decking, a hammock, grill, outside shower and storage for beach stuff in the garage. Along with an Indoor Pool for rainy days, you have your own private Outdoor Pool for soaking in the sun!!
_______________________________________
Yeah .... Okay ... perhaps a bit pricy .... but there are plenty of other options. Ever since I moved away from Vah Beach,
Sandbridge Beach has been my beach vacation choice. Closer than the outer banks. It's where I grew up learning to surf.

Here's a link to the 2011 Vah Beach thread .... viewtopic.php?f=40&t=85631
daaave33 and obxmama11 went ... they might have more info re: tailgating policies.
From reading the thread it doesn't look like they opened the lots until 4pm.

Just got home from the VB show. We were allowed to put up our tent and commercial grill, drink margaritas, and I passed out 150 jello shooters - no questions asked. The staff and police at the venue were nothing but pleasant. What a great example to set for Bristow! PLEASE let us come have a good time!

I just called them and a VERY nice lady said they didn't have the details yet but to call her back later today and she could tell me more. She acknowledged that Jimmy's concerts are treated differently. Whether that's good or bad I can't say
Although in reading those posts from 2011 it looks like they really only opened the lot at 4:30, which means by the time you get parked and set up your stuff and start putting the food together it's almost time to take it down again to go in to the show. Maybe I'm just spoiled from GW.

Yeah .... I remember reading those glowing posts about the tailgating in 2011 at Vah BeachScarletB wrote:Although in reading those posts from 2011 it looks like they really only opened the lot at 4:30, which means by the time you get parked and set up your stuff and start putting the food together it's almost time to take it down again to go in to the show. and thinking the same thing ..... "it doesn't start until after 4pm?"
Back in "the day" .... we used to caravan up to the gates at Merriweather Post Pavilion at 8-9am-ish ....
they'd inevitably open the gates at around 10am when the traffic lines began to grow.

GW used to open for breakfast but even now we're usually in before noon so it's still enough time for an effective tailgate.
