I think I may head down Sunday and do a little recon mission to see what the area looks like now. Plus my Cedar Point pass will let me spend the day at Kings Island. Heh.

What time are people planning on showing up in the morning? 9-10?
We are going to get set up early if we can. Maybe 8 or 9 if they'll open the lots. Probably going to get up there the night before so we can be fresh since we're driving in from Louisville.

Captain Parrothead, we might look at joining your group for food since there will only be 4 of us. I'll let you know.

Looking forward to seeing you & Pamesoo again! :D

Hello BNers,

Dropping by to share a little info. Many of you have tailgated with us in Cincinnati before and already know there have been major changes around the Riverbend Venue. River Downs Race track is now the Belterra Park Racino Entertainment Center. There is both live and electronic racing. The entertainment center has 5 restaurants and a Casino with live entertainment. Here i a link to show you the new layout of Kellogg and Sutton roads that will give clarity to the changes around Riverbend.
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 1c3867907d This link will take you to my FB page where the pics are posted. There is info one each photo. And yes the trees are still there -----my mistake.

Here is some info on the weekend events that the Cincy PHC has been instrument in getting together. Stephen Hoffman our club president wrote this document.

On Saturday night, July 19th Margaritaville Cincinnati will be hosting Lexington, Kentuckys’s and the Bluegrass Parrot Head Club’s own Conch Republic on the Half Shell with their great show. Please come on over to join all of your friends here with the Cincinnati Parrot Head Club as we kick the Buffett weekend off in High Gear! Please be sure to stop in to see Tuey at the Mini Mart, er, Gift Shop and pick up your latest needs from Margaritaville and last minute items for the weekend! My understanding is there is a discount on merchandise if you show your parrot head club membership card. :D

Sunday July 20th. Due to a scheduling conflict with the Horseshoe Casino, the Concert Venue, the Shoe, The Cincinnati Parrot Head Club’s, “Whereitallbeganiversary!” will be set in a different location since Margaritaville is taken over by the Casino and the ensuing concert that starts at 7pm and will hinder all of the PHUN that we are to be having that day. Please remember, Tuey and her staff will be at the ready for you at the MINI Mart, er, Gift Shop. Please bring your club I D cards so you can receive your discounts!!
The “Whereitallbeganiversary !” will take place just across the Ohio River in Newport, Kentucky. The location is JB FINS and Hooters in Newport, Kentucky on the River!! We had the party there two years ago and it was a smash hit!!! JB FINS will be open all day but the festivities take place starting at 5pm. We will be having door prizes and Silent Auction. The Charity of choice for this year’s PHLOCKING is “PARKINSON DISEASE REHABILITATION INSTITUTE OF CINCINNATI.” Parkinson Disease is a very crippling illness to those who contract it and to all of those who have loved ones who have Parkinson’s. This Institute’s purpose is to help rehabilitate those who are willing to have a better life through exercise and physical therapy. If you know anyone with Parkinson’s you know that activity is so wanted by all of these individuals. We will be conducting Silent Auction and Door Prizes at JB FINS. Help us out here because this is a great organization. The entertainment for this years “Whereitallbeganniversary!” is “DJ L TRAIN” Nemar Maize from Maize Music. Nemar is THE BEST DJ in FINZINNATI! Nemar, who is from Jamaica is a regular on the circuit here in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky and International Appeal. Fresh from a Gig in Mexico, Nemar will be playing and mixing the music we all want and more! I can fully guarantee all of you will be having a LARGE TIME! We do hope to see all of you there!

Monday July 21st, 2014. CONCERT DAY! No Jimmy Buffett Concert is ever started without the Tailgate and THE BEST TAILGATE OF ALL is here in Finzinnati!! It all takes place across the street from the Venue at the open parking lots of Coney Island, one of the largest swimming pools in the country. Coney does have day passes for your pleasure. The Tailgate starts as we arrive at 6am! That’s right, 6AM! It gets crowded so for all of the experienced tailgaters they know you must get there early. Please do not try to hop the fence to get a space early, the park will tow and confiscate your property. Strict rules on this. PLEAS FOLLOW THE RULES! They will open the gates at 8am and you will be guided into your place. If you and your club want to tailgate with the Cincinnati Parrot Head Club we will be in the smaller of the two lots. We hope and would love to have you join us for reasons I am about to explain. Of course bring your pop up tents, your coolers and snacks for the day. At 6am the club will be hosting a breakfast of tasty pastries and coffee and juice at the front of the gate. It is an annual small party that we offer to everyone who joins us that morning!

Looking forward to the party. See you there.

Cher, we're coming in from Louisville. Do you know if they allow travel trailers in the first two lots? We usually go to lot 3 but that looks like a no go this year, which will s***. Parking will be at a premium up there.

So some start lining up around 6am, and the 2 fields open at 8AM? Is that what I'm gathering here? How much is it to park in one of the Kellogg/Sutton lots?

We will line up around 6:45 ish gates open at 8. The Cincy club gets to set up earlier on the lot. There has been no parking fee in the past. As far as I know RV's and camping trailers are allowed.

L-ville, my second home. :D

DL717, I checked with some of our club members that bring in RV's & TTs and what I am hearing is that they have been parking in the big lot (Lot 1-West in my pics) for the past several years. It's usually full by 10:00.

For late comers (this is where we hit some unknowns) They told me they parked in what was the grassy lot across from Belterra (Lot 3 which is now consumed with constructions equip and employee parking). Apparently, they were permitted to stay the night (if the would clean up after themselves - including the glass).

I get to tailgate around 2pm (So many friends come in that we help close down the city after the Began-anniversary bash) [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]. Last year we had to park in the coney lot, there were a lot of TT's and Rv's parked along the maintenance road that goes behind coney and riverbend. I did not include any pics of that area because the lot was filled Friday and I could not get in. Hope you find a good spot to tailgate. Fins Up!

Club member start lining up at 6am, the lots open at 8am-ish and close 10-10:30am. The club will be sharing breakfast sweets, coffee and juice. I head something about there will be an ice truck come by the lots between 9-10am. Don't count on that, as everything is subject to a time change.

There is no cost to park in any of the lots. A parking fee is included in the price of your ticket. Safe travels.

At that time of the morning most of the traffic is heading westbound so that may cut down on the traffic tie-up. Truthfully, I have never gotten up for the setup and can't answer your question about lining up. There are peeps on here that can though. Marty? Captain Parrothead? Capt.Flock?

Captain, I am in for some fooood.

I may be traveling alone to this. I bought my ticket the second they went on sale & have 18th row.My friend who wants to go doesn't even have a ticket yet, & I do not want to give up my 18th row seat (or what I paid for it) to go keep her company. Not happening. I'd rather go solo, especially since she doesn't even listen to JB.

I don't have a hotel yet so if anyone has any suggestions, as I am coming in from Nashville. I used to work for Brooks & Dunn, & we would always keep the tour buses at a hotel across the border in KY, so I was thinking of doing that. I don't have to be really close to the venue... maybe 30-45 minutes unless there is closer available, so any suggestions would be awesome as I am going to try to book on Tuesday.

Since I will be solo, I'd love to meet new people. I saw Under40VictimOfFate is riding solo, so if you want to get in touch, feel free, just shoot me a message. I have been chatting a bit with RinglingRingling, so I feel like I am already making friends. :) I won't be bringing food, so I look forward to what Captain will have cooking. But I will be bringing plenty of alcohol & the grass skirt & shell bra.

If anyone is interested in meeting up or wouldn't mind having me come hang out at your tailgate location, shoot me a message & I will send you my personal information.

Also, I am coming in on Sunday & will be looking to meet up with any of you guys if y'all want to hit up any Parrothead events that may be going on that night or an easy going bar (not looking to get crazy so I am not hung over for tailgating). I have never actually stayed in Cinci before, only driven through or been on tour there.

I really look forward to meeting some of you! This will be the first Buffett show that is out of town that I have been to alone.

My name is on Captain's fabled food list, so I plan on getting there fairly early (around 6:30-7) and setting up shop in the Kellogg/Sutton West Lot. If you want my info, shoot me a message and I'll give you my cell.

I booked a cheap room last week ($50/night) at the Red Roof Inn Cincinnati East - Beechmont on Mount Carmel Tobasco Road. It's literally 10 minutes away on I-275.

The entrance for both lots 2 & 3 is just down Sutton about 100 ft from Kelllogg on either side. While last year wasn't my first Cincy show, it was my first one lining up early in the morning - we had gotten scared the year before, because we almost got shut out of the primo lot, so we decided earlier is gooder.

We got there aroud 7:30 last year and traffic already had lined up down Sutton towards the venue then along Kellogg towards lot 4. There wasn't a ton of traffic at that time and we had no problems finding the line, turning around and lining up.

Captain Parrot Head, R2 & Flock would probably know better than I.

Awesome! I will shoot you a message!

I will check out the Red Roof. Is the area where that Red Roof Inn is safe? I am a fairly small girl & young, so I am a prime target for crime. lol. I was told to beware of some parts of town but it's like that for every city. $50 a night would be great. I was looking to budget about $200 total for the two nights I am staying, & that would save me $100.

This may be a stupid question but I haven't tailgated in lots of a JB show in a few years because in Nashville, they don't allow tailgating. Instead they have a block party on Broadway that opens at 11 AM... so with that excuse said, do I need a parking pass for the Kellogg/Sutton lot? If so, where do I purchase one?
