Now that the Santa Barbara show has been announced I gotta find out what the tailgating situation is at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Anyone have any information?

I was thinking about going but I've never been anywhere in southern California so I'm no help.

it is a wonderful venue to see a summer show. but there will be no tailgating without big problems.

That's too bad. If there's no tailgating then I probably won't be going. Very disappointing.

Very strict. We got in trouble for standing one foot off the sidewalk, on the grass, and quietly selling two tickets.

This seems like the ultimate good news/bad news joke. I was so excited that Jimmy Buffet was going to do a show in SoCal and so disappointed that there would be no tailgating.

Well, there's always next year.

If I was not heading to Vegas bright and early Friday morning I would for sure be going to Santa Barbara. It is a wonderful venue. Nice lawn area right in front and seating behind. From your seat you can see both the stage and the Pacific Ocean. It is a fantastic place to see a show. I’d say people are missing out if they avoid this show because of lack of pre show party. I guess we all go to shows for different reasons.

I don't go to the Vegas shows for the same reason. I want the tailgate experience as well as the concert.

Parking is difficult near the venue in Santa Barbara and it's a long walk from downtown along residential streets.......will there be a shuttle this year from State Street? Thanks!

Hi Gang,

We are headed to the Thursday Oct 15 Santa Barbara show in our 45' Prevost tour bus, this will be show #177 for me. Any new updates on tailgating or pre-party locations? The Santa Barbara Bowl mentions something about a high school parking lot 200 yards away.....God help the school if we all end up there! Hope to see folks at Irvine and Hollywood Bowl too!

The Mistress of Agave and I checked out the venue yesterday. Sadly, the tailgate situation looks poor. The high school is a few blocks away but with respect to Calif public schools I believe they are all alcohol-free zones that are probably strictly enforced. There is no where else nearby that one could set up any type of decent tailgate. Woe is me.

No tailgating opportunities in Santa Barbara but the awesome thing about SB is State Street, there area all sorts of bars and restaurants to stroll and grab a bite to eat before the concert. It really is a super cool venue and with being at the beach in SoCal, you can't miss it. Have fun everyone, be safe.

Anyone have any recommendations for pre-concert festivities that are Parakeet friendly? We'll have a 12 and 10 year old in our group.

There is so much discussion about this year's show in Santa Barbara, that we're posting on last year's post
It will be a great time...rented a room 1/2 block from the beach....and going to have some real English fish and chips at Mac's on State Street pre-show. They were on Diner's Drive Ins, and Dives...hopefully good!
