Eric Clapton

We went to see Eric Clapton in concert last night.
About all I can say is WOW!!!
I didn't know all the songs, but the guitar work was amazing.
However, when Layla started, everyone was on their feet :D :D :D

and there is a Buffett connection:
The bass player used to be a studio player and played on some of JB's cd's, looks like BBB&B

I see where it's not just a set of radio hits either
I would love to hear "Running on Faith" and something off of his new CD "Road To Escondido" 8)

Like I said, I didn't know all the songs, I'm not a EC fan, my husband is, but I enjoyed the show.
But you can't beat hearing him play Layla and Crossroads :D :D

Saw this tour in Boston last fall. Great show...how could it not be? Its Clapton!

You'll want to keep an eye on Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall...they both put on quite a show! Robert Cray was a nice treat as well.

We saw him Wednesday in Dallas.

A really nice show, some Cream songs, Hendrix's, "Little Wing", Robert Johnson's "Little Queen of Spades," and an unaccompanied acoustic version of Charles Brown's delta blues staple, "Driftin' Blues" as well as the usual hit parade of "Wonderful Tonight", "Layla" & "Cocaine" & he closed with "Crossroads"

(I kept a set list)

Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks were nice.
Derek is wicked on the slide guitar.

This is a awesome show, more than just greatest hits..but a display of some of the blues influences that have affected Clapton during his career.
Some people never find it, some only pretend

I saw this tour in Oct in Boston and loved every minute of the show. From looking at Eric's website he has changed up his set list some and added a couple of nice surprises. Drifin' Blues & Outside Woman Blues during the sit down acoustic set I bet was a good treat.

Unfortunately anyone seeing Clapton after March 18th will not have the pleasure of seeing Derek Trucks on this tour. Derek goes back to work with the Allman Brothers then for their annual 14 show run at the Beacon Theatre in NYC.

I actually got to Meet EC about 8/9 years ago. One night when he was in town doing 2 shows, me and a co-worker went up to Buddy Guy's Legends because he is known for going there when he is in town. Sat there from 4pm on, watching a few house bands, watching the late great Son Seals play.. Later in the evening after his show EC showed up. Was able to say hello, I am not worthy, and your a god. And also shook his hand. Too damn bad he was wearing a White Sux hat.

Both Doyle and Derek are awesome! Doyle's CD's "Smokestack" and "Jelly Cream" are real nice. He was one of the founding members of the Arc Angles with Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton (Double Trouble), and Charlie Sexton. Derek's live DVD from his "Songlines" CD is also really good.

I've never seen a Clapton solo show but I did see one of the Cream reunion shows in Madison Square Garden. He's not flashy, all he does is stand there and play, but that's all he has to do.

And did anyone else realize that he doesn't change guitars between every song?
When we saw him, he changed guitars 3 times----he played one during most of the show, one for acoustic and one for the encores.

He's playing a concert at the Mark of the Quad Cities on April 3rd, and Mrs. Joseph's son Garry will most definately be in attendance. 8)

I saw him a few years back, on the From The Cradle tour. Since it was a blues-only album he didn't play any of his 'hits' and it was great!! He sat the entire show.

Can't comment on the changing of guitars though. I was seated in the very back row of an arena and couldn't quite see the screens (if there were any?). But it was great.

I guess that was 94 or 95...jeesh, it's been a while.

Saw him a few years ago in Montreal, probably the best concert I've ever seen, Bonnie Raitt opened for him. Don't recall the name of the tour, the only thing I remember is that at the end of each song I was thinking "Don't let this be the last one!"

Everyone who is going to see him on this tour - enjoy!

I've seen him too many times to count, starting with when he was in Cream, then in Blind Faith, then in Derek and the Dominos, then with Bonnie & Delaney Bramlett and Leon Russell (too cool!). Best time was probably when Santana opened for him and they finished the show with the two of them jamming together at the end.

Wow you saw Blind Faith too? I'm officially jealous. Winwood and Clapton are 2 of my favorite artists ever. I've seen both of them solo...but would pay anything to see a Blind Faith reunion.

Saw Clapton in I think 91 when I was stationed in Japan. One of the few concerts that I was stone cold sober. I did not want to miss a thing.
