Oh sweet! Big Tom Petty fan here!

You know one you're one of the great ones when when you're on the same level as the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney. And Prince? Well he's not all that bad either.

My vote is for Jimmy in 2009... Not just for the VIP's.

Great. I think I must record this. Hey GBM, do you have any Petty shows?
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

By shows, do you mean :pirate: versions? I think I have one from ACL Fest 2006 that conched recorded for me off the internet. He was the final act there in 2006. My internet was bad that night. Just the sound though!

Got this new thing but haven't had a chance to watch yet.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Runnin' Down A Dream (4-Disc Set) (2007)
http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Petty-Heartbr ... 066&sr=8-2

These others are pretty good too!
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - High Grass Dogs (Live from the Fillmore) (1999)
http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Petty-Heartbr ... 66&sr=8-14

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Live at the Olympic: The Last DJ and More (2003)
http://www.amazon.com/Tom-Petty-Heartbr ... 66&sr=8-15

The Heartbreakers - Soundstage (2005)
http://www.amazon.com/Heartbreakers-Sou ... 74&sr=8-18

I also have this VHS tape, called "Take The Highway Live", from 1992. It never got released as a DVD. Sound familiar to Tales From Margaritavision and Live By The Bay??? I did record the sound some time ago... Now, I know how to convert it to a DVD too. Another project!

WTF makes him a relevant to play at he Super Bowl? new album or tour?

Should be great. I just dislike the United Center so much that I dread seeing shows there. Rush also announced they will be playing there.
Makes me wonder what's up in Tinley Park for both of these huge summer shows going inside.

I saw Petty back in the mid 80's. He was with Bob Dylan and The Dead. Dylan opened for Petty, and then the Dead closed the show. Dylan s u c k e d so bad, but Petty more than made up for it. He really knows how to put on a show and get the crowd involved. The Dead were great that night too. I'm looking forward to see Petty play the Superbowl, I'm sure he'll be good.

Winwood & Petty
By Greg Lake | 01-25-2008

Legendary musician STEVE WINWOOD will join TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS on an upcoming tour through the U.S. and Canada. Most tour tickets will go on sale February 4th, the day after Tom and the Heartbreakers perform at the Super Bowl. For more information, fans can go to stevewinwood.com, tompetty.com or purchase tickets at ticketmaster.com.

Winwood, slated to open every show, will perform songs from Nine Lives, his highly anticipated new studio album. Nine Lives, slated for release on Tuesday, April 8, represents Winwood’s first effort for Columbia Records, his new label. The tour with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will come on the heels of Winwood’s historic performances at Madison Square Garden on February 25, 26 and 28, 2008. Tickets for all three of these shows—which pair Winwood with former Blind Faith bandmate Eric Clapton—sold out within minutes of their release.

Winwood has logged one of the most esteemed careers of the rock era, spanning more than 40 years. As a solo artist and as a member of such celebrated bands as the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith, Winwood has established himself as nothing short of a musical force, with chart-topping and platinum-selling albums, numerous Grammy awards, and collaborations with everyone from George Harrison and Jimi Hendrix to Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. Steve Winwood has truly done it all.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their debut album in 1976. Since that time they have sold more than 50 million records. Between the Heartbreakers’ recordings and his solo work, Tom Petty has received 18 Grammy nominations. Honored with lifetime achievement awards including Billboard’s Century Award, MTV’s Video Vanguard Award, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Tom Petty, with the Heartbreakers at his side, has achieved the status of rock and roll icon among his fellow musicians and listeners worldwide. Alive and kickin' Ravi....and puts on an amazing show. He's one guy i NEVER miss when he tours. I've seen him 3-4 times in the last few years. I highly recommend. Extremely underrated in my opinion. One of the great talents of this era of rock.
