I used to be, in my opinion his last great album was Trancendental Blues. I don't mind him going political with his music, but truthfully I feel that it is affecting his songwriting. I miss the days when he rivaled Guy Clark, John Hiatt, and Lyle Lovett. I hate to say that because he used to be one of my favorites. I still enjoy his older albums, just not anything recent.

I don't disagree, but anymore they make up 100% of his albums.

I can't think of one Earle album that's 100% political, even The Revolution Starts...Now. In fact, I'd say with Washington Square Serenade he's backed off of the political themes a good bit.

I agree the new CD is a lot less political then his 2 previous ones. Washington Square has some politcal overtones but for the most part it's a story about living in NYC. I think Jerusalem was the CD that turned a lot of his fans off and maybe Steve was just a few years ahead of his time for his own good. Had an album like that been released in 2007 instead of 2002 people wouldn't think twice about it. Steve for the most part was the first to release an album that questioned the government and the war and was very critical of George Bush.

Steve has a cool Radio show on SIRIUS. It's called "Hardcore Troubadour". It airs at various times on the weekend on OUTLAW Country.

On a side note...have you seen Steve's wife, Allison Moorer? She is hot and Steve is kind of scary looking.

I won't claim to be a huge fan. I do enjoy a number of his songs and I have to admit it was really fun when he showed up at a house concert that his sister and brother in law were headlining. He didn't try to steal the show, he just hung out, played in the background and did one song of his own.

Mellencamp's "To Washington" wasn't exactly late to the party either.

The New York Times ran a real nice article earlier this week about his new album of Townes Van Zandt cover songs.

I heard a PBS interview about the new CD today on the way home..... Earle's son is named after Townes. I've been a Townes fan since the early 70s ... followed his rise and fall and fall and fall. There's a relatively new biography about him ... if the facts are true, Guy Clark and his wife kept Townes alive for a long time.

I'm goin to get the CD ... and try to snag an interview with Steve.

I enjoyed the interview with him on the Tavis Smiley Show on PBS, sounds like maybe it was the same one you heard. I am getting the new CD as well. Would love to see you get an interview with him, Terry! :D

Did anyone see him on the show 30 Rock the other night. He was really different looking since the last time I saw him. I had to look up the credits to be sure it was him.
