2010 East Troy, Wisconsin Show

Post by NZParrothead58 »

I am arriving back in the country after a 3.5 year absence for a three week visit. I will be staying in the midwest (Michigan) for that time and am sad to say that we arrive the day after the Detroit show. However, I am VERY interested in getting tickets for the June 26th show in Wisconsin. I'll be trying to get them online from across the world when they go onsale, but does anyone have any suggestions, or tricks, to ensure I get these tickets? Or, better yet, anyone willing to share 2 lawn seats with me at a reasonable price? Cheers

Another question I had was if anyone knew how fast this show normally sells out? I know that Detroit is quick and Chicago is fairly quick...but I've never been to this venue. Any history? Thanks again.

Usually tickets sell out fast, but last year tickets were fairly easy to come by. I've been going to Alpine for over a decade now, and have always managed to get tickets. I would suggest not buying when they go on sale, and just keep checking the varoius Buffett sites on the web, there always seem to be people willing to sell tickets at face value. It's been like this for many years in the past, and I don't see this year being any different.

It usually sells out pretty quick, however if you only need a couple tickets and aren't picky about where you sit, you shouldn't have a problem getting tickets. If don't get any directly from ticketmaster the day they go on sale, there are usually a ton of tickets available via ebay etc...Many at face value or slightly above.
If I had it all to do over again,
I'd just get myself drunk and I'd jump right back in!!!

You can usually find rooms in Janesville or towards Milwaukee... or if you're loaded Lake Geneva.

Tix will sell out in 10-15 minutes, but you can get extras on BuffettNews, ebay, or in the parking lot. Don't let not having a ticket keep you away, there are always locals at the entrance buying & selling tickets.

I checked the Country Inn and Suites in Genesee last week when the rumor started and they were booked solid already! I need to move faster. We'll probably head up to Waukesha.

Well 2009 was a sh#@*ty year for most and 2010 isn't looking much better. But now the date has been set, the preparations have begun and the ParrotHead nation gathers!

Fresh off the Coconut Telegraph Midwest Edition - here is the draft version

Hemingways to host the

2010 UNDER THE BIG TOP PRE-CONCERT "GOT A LOT TO DRINK ABOUT" FULL MOON WEEKEND PARTY!
The official sponsored phlocking starts Friday June 25th at 3pm with the general mayhem featuring

Frank Whiting
Mr. Myers
South Of Disorder
Pirates Over 40

Music starts at 5pm and goes til we drop

Saturday, our doors open at 10am for pre-concert gathering and preliminary tailgating in our lot. We will be doing Bloody Mary Breakfast, Margys, Landshark and patio food for the afternoon.

The Saturday night post party event will once again feature The David Marshall Band and we will be broadcasting all the pre-show and post-show events live as usual for those unable to attend the concert.

Finally, on Sunday, wind down with us starting at 9am with Bloody Marys, omelettes, and lots of post concert sharing to prepare for the return to reality trip home.

I would expect the "rape" of the phlock regarding lodging to begin if it has not already, it has been a tough year for Lake Geneva and surrounding communities and I am expecting the hotels to jack up their rates inappropriately, but not much we can do. I have calls out to try to pull in favors but as of yet, am not hearing any good news. I will keep all informed if I am able to lock in some decent rates in the area. PM me if you are in need of lodging, we will do the best we can. Anyone with Jolena & Eric's group are already on a list. Would hope that Volcano Express is securing good rates also. BNers will take priority on list.

Being it a Full Moon gathering, we decided to not only go insane, but to be insane. Expect lots of games, give-aways, craziness and mayhem all weekend!

Knowing how bad off a lot of us are due to the economic situation, this year's party is gonna be just that, a huge fricking party. I (we) have appreciated all your past loyalty and patronage to our events and phlockings, therefore this year we are going to return the favor for those who can't afford it due to events completely out of YOURS and OUR control.

We are asking for a $10.00/person donation on Friday to cover our costs, BUT if you can't afford it this year, you won't be turned away. Yep, 10 bucks if you can, if not, no worries, come and enjoy!

Food will start at 5pm and run til it is out. The usual pig roast/bbq and all the fixins, price will be $5.00/person.

DESIGNATED DRIVERS ENTER, EAT AND DRINK FOR FREE AS ALWAYS. PLEASE, EITHER HAVE A DESIGNATED DRIVER OR TALK TO US ABOUT RIDES AND RIDE SHARING. NOT ONLY DO WE ENCOURAGE PARTYING WITH A PURPOSE, BUT WE STRESS SAFE AND SMART PARTYING.

Once again we will be setting up buses to the show from Hemingways. Email us if you are in need. More details shortly. As always, we suggest you check with Volcano Express also, they do a great job. We don't know the status of Volcano Express involvement this year with our pre-concert party, but we hope they will join us as in years past.

We are working on shuttle services and rides from local area resorts and hotels, they should be inexpensive and we encourage you to use these if you are in the area and attending. Details will be out in the near future.

For those of you car pooling it, our parking lot is available as in the past. Feel free to meet there and carpool in to the show.

More to follow in the next few weeks. Visit Hemingways webpage for updates regularly http://www.hemingwaysportofcall.com

Is it June yet?!

Avoid Waukesha. The Fraternal Order of Eagles are holding their state convention there that weekend and they have blocks of rooms set aside at several area motels. Burlington, Elkhorn, Walworth, Darien, Delavan, and that area might be more productive.

Thanks, Bill. I'm not familiar with any of those areas. We're coming in from the north and figured it would be easier to head back that way after the concert - would those places work?

They would, but probably not as well as something up in the Milwaukee/Waukesha area. These places are all south and west of East Troy and closer to the Lake Geneva area. The only advantage would be is that these places are usually the locations with "Mom-and-Pop" motels rather than the national franchises or chains, and as a general rule the costs are lower. In addition, being as they're somewhat off the beaten path, a lot of people will overlook them so you might find some real bargains — even as you get close to the date of the show.

This is great info everyone, thanks! If I remember correctly, there is a car ferry that goes from somewhere in Michigan (Saugatuck maybe) to somewhere on the other side of Lake Michigan. Does anyone know if that is close by? It could save a ton of travel time if so.

Make sure you check your prices. The Lake Express takes only about three hours for the crossing, but it will cost you $90.00 for your vehicle (one way), plus $81.00 per adult person (again, one way) — plus a total of $10.00 in "fuel and port surcharges" per vehicle/passenger ticket (one way).....for a total of $191.00 (one way) for one vehicle and one person. Figure another $90.00 for each additional person in the vehicle.

It does save you the 275 miles and takes a couple of hours off of the four or five hours it would take to drive from Muskegon to Milwaukee .... but just between you, me, and the tiki bar, that seems like a hellacious amount of money to pay just to avoid driving through Chicago. And with the resources we have at our fingertips with Mapquest or GoogleMaps, I'm sure you could find a way around the Chicago area and up to Alpine Valley without actually having to go into metro Chicago itself.

FinnsU.P. -

We're from the UP and have been to Alpine twice. We avoid the Lake Geneva and even East Troy fiasco at the Country Inn. Inside tip...try the La Quinta in New Berlin. It's only 15 min from Alpine. New Berlin is just SW of Milwaukee. Rooms are super clean, good hospitality, and very reasonably priced. Battling the traffic out of Alpine always sucks but I've found this to be the best viable option rather than heading further north or towards Milwaukee.

I have rooms booked already, but will likely cancel and head to Detroit if I get tickets Saturday.

For those that haven't seen it, there was a small tidbit about the show in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal and states that tickets will be sold thru Ticketmaster.
