parrottheadcmc, that's a good question. Last year I thought I bought our tickets beginning of March. I already have our hotel rooms reserved downtown for july 26th and I'm getting a little nervous now. Something should have been announced so whats the deal?

Not looking good for us this summer. I don't understand why some of these other cities get concerts every year when they can't even sell out. There are LAWN seats available still at many venues! LAWN sells out at Pine Knob in minutes. Maybe it's just that past history with management that keeps us from getting a show every year. Did someone say Road Trip???

I posted this the other Day but it obviously didn't go thru on mobile.

Olympia only likes to do one on sale a week. Two weeks ago it was hoedown then a musical then this upcoming week is Eminem.

So I fully expect a announcement next Monday.

If I don't hear anything on Monday I'm canceling our hotel rooms and making plans to go to Chicago or a concert somewhere else. The suspense/anticipation is killing me. I know he comes to Detroit every year and he's gotta make a pretty penny especially with CoPa, but I have to start planning my summer now.

Is anyone else getting nervous about possibly having a Detroit show this year? Also could it be due to the fact they are looking at other dates/locations due to the unavailability of hotels on July 26th? I have already reserved my rooms for July 26th, but when I searched hotels like Detroit Courtyard, Atheneum, Marriott Renaissance and the Holiday Inn, all hotels were booked already for the 26th. Could Jimmy be looking at a different date because something else is going on that day in Detroit?

An announcement could still come, probably makes a mint at Comerica. Although I cannot understand why anyone would go to that venue. Comerica was about 20 minutes from my old house, Pine Knob, 90 minutes. Would have rather driven the 90. Post Knob I opted for Internet and Sirius to listen to the concerts. Having said that I am pretty sure he has skipped Detroit once or twice over the years. Then there was that dreadful Palace show that one year in October or November, mid-late 90's I think. Wonder if they will package him up with somebody for Ford Field?

I recently moved to New Jersey and I got lawn tickets for the Camden NJ/Philadelphia show @ the Susquehanna Center about 2 weeks ago and they went on sale 2/28. Just checked and lawn is still available and it is, thank god, a Pine Knob type venue.

Good Luck Detroit...

Jimmy used to skip Detroit all the time. He would come for a show then wouldnt be back for 3 years. Alot of rumors about fights with PS%E circulated the rounds back then.

Im sure the announcement is coming, Opening Day is huge and they are probably still dotting the i's this week. Hopefully the delay is because their are opening acts that need to signed before that aswell.

Lawn seats available 2 weeks after onsale is just terrible.

I agree on both counts, filling Comerica = lots of money, It would be unwise for him to take a pass this year. He's going to hang it up sooner rather than later so it makes sense for him to cash in. And yes, lawn tix still available a month now after going onsale is sad. New to the area, makes me wonder how the crowd will be.

I was shocked tickets were still available for Camden after some heartache and anxious moments back in Michigan. It made me think about my ticket experiences over the years:

Best ticket experience: Harmony House in Southgate, early 90's - 91 or 92, old-school walk up Ticketmaster counter. That year I think he did 2 back to back shows at Pine Knob. My first JB concert, with my dad. My mom and I go up there to get the tickets on a weekday, person punches everything in, gives total, my mom hands over her credit card. Told sorry, cash only. Harmony House employee says there is an ATM around the corner, and that she would keep the tickets on the screen. We go to the ATM come back, get the tickets. Knowing what I know now..that was pretty cool.

Worst ticket experience: The typical mid to late summer concert date but tickets go on sale in Feb/March - that long wait from purchase to experience. Bunch of college friends and I camp out overnight at Tower Records in Ann Arbor, another old-school walk up Ticketmaster counter. In front of us were a bunch of noobs (no offense). Throughout the camp out they discuss there ticket buying strategy, there were 8 of them. They were set on getting 2 each, figured our chances were pretty good. Sun rises, doors open, 10:00 approaches on Saturday morning as we are lead to the ticket counter. They changed their strategy overnight. They were going for the 8 ticket max each. Oh my. The ending to this sad story is the eighth person in that group, 1 human being before our small group......got the last tickets. No JB for us that year. I will never forget that, totally sucked..so close. And this was before all the "official" resale websites.

Most memorable Michigan JB concert: As mentioned above, my first concert was with my dad, that was cool. Coming in second was his last Knob concert in 2011. That was the "with heat index it was over 100 degrees" concert. Had a blast but that was a first - equal ratio of water to alcohol...

So he's waiting to announce Detroit because they want people in Michigan to buy tickets in Cleveland, Chicago and Indy first? That isn't going to happen. As much as I would travel to see him, the rest of my buffett party isn't so loyal. He needs to announce Detroit soon
