Pittsburgh 2017
I just shot 6 holes in the freezer. Has anyone heard anything about this year?

Re: Pittsburgh 2017
Starting to wonder if Jimmy is just hitting the places he "missed" last year since the tour name is still the same. I know typically the first couple months of the new year are the true end of the previous year's tour but it just seems different this year.
It was too much tequila . . . . or not quite enough.

Hadn't thought about it like that but you might be on to something.MDShark70 wrote:Starting to wonder if Jimmy is just hitting the places he "missed" last year since the tour name is still the same. This also makes me wonder if he's going to play Blossom this year. Was there in 2011 & 2014(sense the pattern?)MDShark70 wrote:Starting to wonder if Jimmy is just hitting the places he "missed" last year since the tour name is still the same. Re: Pittsburgh 2017
Well it does seem as if most of the "usual" spots are getting a date this year. So based on what's out there so far I'll speculate that August 22nd and 24th will be Pittsburgh and Cincy. Not sure of the order. Both venues still have those dates open, at least they're open on pollstar.

Re: Pittsburgh 2017
This is pretty late in the game for an announcement. Historically back in the 90s it seem to be announced in mid Feb. and tickets would go on sale around March 12-15. Last year it was announce on Feb 4(which is early) but the previous year it came in March so who the heck knows anymore. Fins Up!!!

Re: Pittsburgh 2017
With the Toronto announcement meaning dates are still trickling out I think August 22nd or 24th seem pretty likely for Star Lake. Only 4 dates on that leg of the tour so another one or two may be possible.

Re: Pittsburgh 2017
I just sent an email to Jennifer Stokes, who works for Live Nation and asked her if there were any rumors about JB playing Star Lake or any of the Pittsburgh area venues this summer.
No I’m so sorry. I just saw our market booker in a meeting today and there’s no signs of Jimmy hitting Pittsburgh this summer. Always a favorite for many but Jimmy doesn’t sell out like he used to so sometimes when they take a break it creates more excitement for when they return.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed for next season.

I would kindly reply and tell them how they jerked people around with the parking lot opening times and having people sit on the highway for hours the past few years has played a significant factor in the decline in ticket sales. If they just stated months before the show "parking will open at noon", the excitement for many would return.

The fact is the tailgating and general camraderie is a big part of a Buffett show. The fiasco that exists getting into Star Lake every year is a giant pain in the ass. They would do themselves (and the passing through traffic) such a favor by letting people in as they arrive instead of waiting for unsafe congestion on Routes 18 and 22. By the time they actually open it's bumper to bumper and takes forever to finally get parked. I guess it would be one thing if there was somewhere to hang out nearby but it's in the middle of nowhere. It's really a shame because as far as the outdoor theatres go I think it is one of the nicest ones to watch a show.

Re: Pittsburgh 2017
Another problem is that it's been too long since Jimmy has given the Pittsburgh/Burgettstown area a weekend concert. I know that some people have gotten frustrated about having to use a vacation day every year to see his concerts.
I remember the one year we even had a concert the day after Labor Day.![sarcasm [smilie=sarcasm.gif]](./images/smilies/sarcasm.gif)

I think Jimmy's been playing Pittsburgh or Burgettstown every year since 1990.
Can't believe it's not happening this year. Glad I got my tickets for Camden.
