Just saw this on FB.

Think it's safe to say that worrying about DMB taking the last show at Alpine is not going to happen since neither Zac Brown or DMB is playing in Tinley Park this year

I know it's been speculated that they might be worried an Alpine show might take away from Wrigley attendance, but is there any concern the other way? If Jimmy only drew 16,000 last time, do we think he's maybe worried it'd be even less this year at Alpine?
Past Concerts:
Saturday 6/28/2003 - East Troy, WI
Tuesday 4/17/2012 - Des Moines, IA
Saturday 7/25/2016 - Tinley Park, IL
Saturday 7/15/2017 - Chicago, IL (Wrigley Field)
Tuesday 5/22/2018 - Des Moines, IA
Friday 7/13/2018 - Chicago, IL (Wrigley Field)

Upcoming:
Saturday 7/20 - Alpine Valley!

I don't really think that'd be the case. In my opinion, I think an Alpine show this year might draw more of a crowd then it has the past few years, due to the fact that Alpine did not have a show last year. Also, since it is no longer rumored for Labor Day weekend, that may bring in more people as well. Just my opinion though

I don’t think ZBB even can play Tinley until their popularity drops off. Their last show there, 9/30/2102, broke the attendance record for that venue. The lawn was packed full of people standing, people were standing in the aisles. It was wild.

I saw it and just figured I'd share it. I think it's a picture just used by Live Nation, not a venue specific picture, like we all thought for the Alpine picture.

It's hard to take away from an attendance that isn't there to begin with. I just checked, and you can get the maximum amount of tickets at any price level for the Wrigley show. Even the lowest price level is for lower level seats. I wonder if they've even started selling tickets in the upper deck.

About a week ago I checked to see what was still available for Wrigley and third row field seats popped up. Last year field seats were gone in about 15-20 minutes and and the entire show was sold out on a matter of days. The sentiment in the Wrigley thread that this year will be just as big as last year is a little off.

Getting kinda quiet over here. Based on when the 2016 Alpine Show was announced, I imagine we should have an announcement in the next two weeks.

2015 - Alpine Valley

For our group, the cutoff date for the announcement is "tax day". If there's nothing by that time everyone is moving forward with summer assuming there is no Alpine date.

Per the website www.alpinestaff.com they are informing potential employees that there will be 5 shows for the season at Alpine. Which matches what I was told by a Live Nation Rep earlier in the month. I'm 95% sure it's Buffett, since he is the only Singer I know of that does not announce his full tour schedule at once.

Plus, won't be a Labor Day weekend show

I think the only thing we may be waiting on right now is for more tickets to sell at Wrigley, still field seats available. They are all the way in the back, but still available. I thought for sure we would have heard something by now since about this time is when the Labor Day show was announced two years ago

Just did some searching through old posts on the announcement date versus the show date. They're posted below.

2016: Friday, April 1 / September 3
2015: Monday, April 20 / August 22
2014: Friday, April 4 / August 23
2013: Wednesday, May 1st / August 24
2012: Wednesday, May 2nd / August 25
2011: Wednesday, March 16 / June 25

Going back to 2012 (since 2011 had an inordinately high number), the average numbers of dates on a particular tour have been 30, with the max being 37 (I Don't Know 2017) and the minimum being 26 (Loungin' at the Lagoon 2018 and Workin' and Playin' 2015). By my count, we have 28 announced dates for Son of a Son of a Sailor 2018. Keep in mind that were will likely be a few December-March dates added way down the road that will reconsidered part of SOASOAS '18.

At the same time, on the Gypsies in the Palace podcast last fall, there was an episode were they were talking about how certain cities were getting skipped on the 2017 tour in order to play other cities that don't usually get concerts. Pittsburgh was specifically named as a 2017 "skip" in favor of Toronto. There are a lot of shows missing this year (Tampa, Orange Beach, Frisco, Houston, Alpine) and then there are a LOT of cities that aren't in the regular rotation (Cuyahoga Falls, Des Moines, Kansas City, Seattle, Salt Lake City.)

So to sum this all up, we still can't tell if there will or will not be an Alpine show this year.

Thanks for doing all that research, though it really does not tell us much about this year.

This is... odd

Not that I don't trust your source, it just seems odd.

It is very late for someone else to be announcing a tour, DMB as a scheduled stop that day in Indiana.

Must be someone new to playing at Alpine

Has anyone actually seen it in writing that Alpine is having exactly 5 shows?

Yes I have it in writing from Live Nation in an email that Alpine will have 5 shows. Plus, www.alpinestaff.com states that there are 5 shows scheduled for the summer

Not that I don't believe you, but can you show the exact location of the Alpine staff page that states it?
