Picked Cowboy in the Jungle just cuz I've been listening to it a lot, and the line "I don't want to live on that kind of island/I don't want to swim in a roped off sea" seems eeriely appropriate for my life these days. But SOASOAS is still one of my favorites, "as we ride on the wind our forefathers harnessed before us."
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.
Jimmy paints a great picture on African Friend so I'll go with that one.He puts you right there and you can see it all in your mind. At least I can or maybe it was just the beer.
After that I like Cowboy
"I got to be where the women and water are free" says it all
"It's crazy and it's different, but it's really bein' free"
Tough choice but I'll go with Cowboy. Gumbo, do you remember when he played that song at the concert or did you just see the setlist on here the next day .
Cowboy In the Jungle. It makes me think of parrotheads and things they say about "roll with the punches" and not "swimming in a roped off sea" and other great lines like quack about fishing and smoking cheap cheroots.
Make the best of whatever comes our way.
Plowin straight ahead come what may.
As Cowboy In The Jungle is my all time favorite song it gets my vote. there is no line in any song that means more to me than "His original destination is just another story he loves to tell". Its perfect.
As an aside this album was playing in the background during a special "first" for me and my at that time girlfriend now wife. And I swear it took the WHOLE album not just half a song like she claims!
Manana/African Friend (tie). Son of a Sailor was for many years. However, like all yellow album songs, I routinely skip this one now. African Friend was skipped for years but now is probably a top 20 song for me. Just kinda grew on me.
Some people never find it, some only pretend; but me, I just want to live happily ever after every now and then.
