Tomorrow is the 14th and the close of their selection window. If we don't hear anything in the next few days, I'm guessing that no advance notice is given to finalists and we'll just have to be prepared to vote starting 4/22.

My (stunned) reply.
Hello,

I am ..... stunned. Please review again. I have hundreds of people lined up
and ready to move on with phase 2 voting of the Toyota Sponsafier 3
contest. I do not understand, as the design was originally approved and
there are no violations of rules section 5.7 regarding copyright materials.

All images used are my own. The lime image is drawn. As are the bird
silhouettes honoring Vicki and the shark fins.

The NASCARITAVILLE logo I created using 4 color diagonal blocks angled with
a clear white font for the letters NA and CAR.
I drew a curved "S" and inserted checkered flag blocks to invoke racing.

I was prepared with alternate designs using the names FASTCARITAVILLE or
RACECARITAVILLE had not this design been originally approved, but when it
was, we assumed the works were acceptable by the rules.

Please, please take another look at our entry. We have enlisted the support
of hundreds of persons to move into the second round of voting. We have
support of Radio Margaritaville and others.

The charity organization PartiesThatMatter.org is ready to participate.

Our car has been in the top 5 of voting for over 4 weeks. If there had been
ANY questions in our minds that it had not been reviewed and approved for
design and content we would have immediately petitioned for a review and/or
submitted an alternate entry.

Thank you in advance for your re-review.

If they don't correct this injustice, you can scratch Toyota from the makes of cars I'll consider for my next purchase.

This needs to play out. I await their reply to my (thus far) polite correspondence.

I am 1 part angry that they (only today) deemed the design
a violation of copyright .... this I do not understand nor agree with ......

but 10 parts angry that *the process*
1. approved the design in the first place (over 6 weeks ago)
2. allowed voting for 15 days
3. let the entry rise to #5 in popular votes
i.e. this was not below their *radar*, it has been prominently in the top 5 for over a month

and
4. notified me only today, April 15th, that the design is now deemed in violation of rule 5.7

If I am not satisfied with their final decision,
rest assured I will let you know
where you may register your displeasure.

My theory is that they were hoping it would fall out of the top 10 because for some reason, they didn't want this design as part of the voting in the semifinals and when it didn't fall out, they were looking for an excuse to throw it out.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Posted moments ago at http://chelseashope.org/
A Toyota Nascar has been designed to represent Chelsea's Hope in the upcoming
"Allstar Nascar Race" in May in Charlotte, North Carolina.

It's official! We have heard from Toyota and NASCAR that our Chelsea's Hope car is one of the Top Ten finalists!
Thanks to all of you, we have been able to progress to this point. We are going to need your help again,
starting on April 22nd and running through May 1st.

Please tell all your friends, co-workers, Facebook and Twitter friends about Chelsea's Hope and our race for research.
This is our first opportunity to receive national attention. Our children deserve a chance for a better tomorrow.
Your 'click' helps us preserve hope. More details to follow!

Image
CHELSEA'S HOPE is obviously deserving of TOP TEN Finalists selection for round 2,
and I congratulate them and wish them luck.

This however dims my opinion and hope that our entry will be selected
pending my request that our entry be re-reviewed,
i.e.
It leads me to believe that CHELSEA'S HOPE and 9 other finalists
have already been notified ....
my hopes fade for them to change the decision
and do the right thing.

This entire process of accepting our entry, allowing voting, and notifying us only today
that it is somehow in violation of contest rules ..... sux.

There is no excuse for their decision, nor their timing.

I'm just soooo disappointed for you SP. You put so much effort into this and there is no way they should have let it get all the way to the finals and then tell you there was some "technicality"

We kinda wondered about the one that was leading for so long.....the one with political overtones.

Last time we were involved they disqualified ones beforehand so we knew where we stood. This time for some reason they didn't do that. If they were changing they way the did things it would have been nice to have been told...
I assume that one didn't make it through either.

It's painfully ironic, too

Using their official NASCAR logo is one thing, but I think they also fear copyright infringement and subsequent action being brought by the VERY ARTIST WE'RE HERE TO SUPPORT!!!
