Re: Classic BN Critters - Conolulu and Poof
A few notes:
"Poof" had already been named by the time this strip ran, but we hadn't yet named the band.
I decided on the none-too-clever-name of THE CRITTERS because,
well .... I had already designed this t-shirt with that band name
and the 2008 summer tour dates were already listed on the back.
I gave a few other nods to posts in BuffettNews as well:
The Drive By Truckers were mentioned.
"Sweet Yellow Stars!" (for Larry)
and of course a nod to Conolulu being somewhat height challenged .....

Poof (on the right), Torque (on the left), Duckett (on drums), and L.A. (the ham in the middle). That one was too easy.surfpirate wrote:Who can name all four members of THE CRITTERS?

Correct. And there was also the original "Fifth Critter" that no one talks about anymore ....Bicycle Bill wrote:Poof (on the right), Torque (on the left), Duckett (on drums), and L.A. (the ham in the middle). That one was too easy.surfpirate wrote:Who can name all four members of THE CRITTERS?

Very well. Today's classic critters tells the back story of the origin of Poof's name.Bicycle Bill wrote:Poof (on the right), Torque (on the left), Duckett (on drums), and L.A. (the ham in the middle). That one was too easy.

What is the meaning behind the names "L.A." and "Torque"?

Torque — reference to former Monkee Peter Tork.
L.A. — reference to Lance Armstrong?
