ummm, I think my yellow submarine is better than his, too. I don't have a horn section.

I wonder if this is a one time deal or will it be on the whole tour...

I just got back from the concert. It was incredible!!!
I've been to 25 concerts and he sang 9 songs I've never heard him sing before. Thanks, Jimmy!!!!
More details more details ....what did the set look like? What color shorts was Jimmy wearing? Were they having as much fun (esp. during Yellow Submarine) as it sounded like? Anything else new and different to report?

Thanks for posting pirate!

(PS - JB marketing people - are you still reading and taking notes for reports tomorrow?????? The phans like the new stuff and the gems and to mix it up a bit).....
Another great show in Atlanta! A few surprises (Yellow Submarine??? Where did that come from?) Loved hearing Coast of Carolina, Conky Tonkin' and the new songs!

To answer your questions above: Jimmy was wearing an orange shirt and black with bright floral print shorts.
Image

The set was a basic set with the bamboo poles all around. A couple palm trees on each side of the set were illuminated with changing color lights. SPOILER: The back image of the set was actually a large HD video wall that was used as a "desktop" image. There was a different looping video image taken from a stationary camera that was changed on each song. One image was a video camera (not a still image) looking down a beach. Another of the palm trees shown here. Another with a (maybe NC) lighthouse that was shown during Coast of Carolina.

THANK YOU THANK YOU for the answers to the questions that bother us so - esp. the shorts - snazzy - different than last year. Can't wait to see the lighthouses next Thursday.

Hmmmm...

Looks a lot like last year with all the palm trees! But you say the screen is different, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the new screens in the back!

Thanks David!

They said it was cold in Atlanta tonight, and it's not all that warm here in Raleigh... (46 now)... But I see Jimmy is in bare feet... Kinda cold there tonight. I don't remember Jimmy complaining like he did in in Hawaii.

It was mostly sunny and around the upper 60s (maybe low 70s) in the afternoon. It was getting a bit chilly after the sun went down, but I wasn't aware of it until after the show. It was probably warm enough on stage with the lights that Jimmy would not mention the temps.

Summerzcool lyrics:

SummerZcool

You messed up, you read the paper
You accidentally watched the news
You inadvertently find yourself in the vicinity of the blues

Bust your ass to get a good life
You make a habit out of overtime
When the big report card comes
Your priorities are way out of line

Chorus:
You need to go to summer school
Into the beach or at least in a pool
Time to go to summer school
Remember what is and what is not cool

Time out for bad behavior
Time off, you’ve been under the gun
High time somebody told you
It’s time to let those puppies run

What’s up with this recession?
I refuse to participate
The answer to your burning questions
Are dancing on your tailgate

It’s time to go to summer school
Remember what is and is not cool
Oh, summer school
There’s a time and a place to act like a fool
At summer school
Get your ass to a beach or at least to a pool
At summer school
Remember what is and what is not cool

Here’s the subjects:
Beer 101.
Sex 102.
Tune it in, turn it out
That’s what I’m talking about

It’s time to go to summer school
Yeah, the courses are easy and there are no rules
At summer school
Remember what is and what is not cool
You need to stay in summer school
This is the time and the place to act like a fool
Oh, summer school
Remember what is and what is not cool

I loved the horn section on Yellow Submarine and it sounds like they were having a great time. We all know how much the Mayer Bros like The Beatles too!

Wish I had time to do the Buffettized lyrics this morning:

In the town where I was born,
Lived a man who sailed to sea,
And he told us of his life,
In the land of submarines,

So we sailed on to the sun,
Till we found the sea of green,
And we lived beneath the waves,
In our yellow submarine,

We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

And our friends are all aboard,
Many more of them live next door,
And the band begins to play.

(Trumpets play)

We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

(Full speed ahead, Mr. Parker, full speed ahead!
Full speed over here, sir!
Action stations! Action stations!
Aye, aye, sir, fire!
Captain! Captain!)

As we live a life of ease
Every one of us has all we need,(has all we need)
Sky of blue, and sea of green,(sky of blue and sea of green)
in our yellow(in our yellow) submarine.(submarine) ( Hahaha! )

We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

(fading)

We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine,
We all live in a yellow submarine,
yellow submarine, yellow submarine.

At the venue I sang every word to Rhumba Man and everyone acted like I was crazy.

Imagine that.

You can listen to it here:

Jimmy also played the uke during the 2003/2004 Tiki Time Tour a few years back, which featured the "Hawaiian version" of Why Don't We Get Drunk.

There's video of it on the DVD from Live in Hawaii if you want to check it out, or you can listen to one of the shows from that year. It was a very good year - don't get a tour named after you very often!  8)

The show was great.. a little bit chilly toward the end of the night, but jimmy still rocked... setlist was great (although i kind of thought he would have played boat drinks).... coastal confessions was GREAT and i also loved hearing Stars on the Water (one of my favorite George Strait songs).... Jimmy looks excited about the tour fresh of his endeavors in the outer banks....should be a great tour!!!!!

What a fabulous show!!! Loved the huge TV screen in the back, especially when the crowd was projected on it behind Jimmy. I thought the set list was one of the most original in years. No one saw Yellow Submarine coming. I noticed members of the band singing along even when they had no vocal part. John Lovell really seemed to be having a blast doing that. Jimmy was energetic and enthusiastic the whole show. I did notice him looking at the teleprompter quite a bit, though. I remember a show in Charlotte just before he started using the teleprompter where he did a verse to This Hotel Room twice, and mixed up parts of verses for the rest of the song.

Under the pavilion, the temperature was perfect, but I noticed outside in the parking lot later it was chilly. I happened to be around a bunch of thunderstruck Buffett virgins after the show who were absolutely in awe. They couldn't stop talking about it. What a great thing to see.

All things considered, I'd have to rank this one in the top 15 (of 69) I've seen.

The show was awesome, and I am still on a high from listening to this show at home. I am so glad that we have RadioMargaritaville to broadcast the shows. Man, this was only opening night. I am really looking forward to going to SummerZcool a few times this year.

I hope that Yellow Summarine stays on the setlist. That was fun, and it sounded like Jimmy and the CRB were having a good time with it as well.

That was the best show and most amazing set list I have seen him do in Atlanta
