Vicki is facing some tough decisions. She's had heart-related health issues for some time. Now, her doctors are looking at transplant as an option. She's probably going to get a VAD pump and be put on a list for a heart transplant. If she's lucky enough to get a new heart, she faces huge monthly payments for anti-rejection drugs. She's on a fixed income and even with help, she can't afford the meds.
I have been wracking my pea-sized brain for something we could do to help her. I don't own a phamecutical company and I can't give her my own heart.
I was stumped - until today.
In her past life, Vicki was a caterer. She organizes our buffet line each year at the Frisco Feeding Frenzy and brings all of her chafing dishes and other professional stuff for us to use. She's a wonder. Her attitude is upbeat and she's always willing to do anything she can to make things work. We couldn't feed everyone without her.
Duh, ETP.
We need to do something we know! We need to do something that lets every BNer contribute something.
We do a cookbook.
We name the cookbook Recipes That Matter.
We ask Lulu, Bubba and the Coral Reefers to submit recipes.
We collect 300 completely new recipes in eight categories (Appetizers and Adult Beverages, Soups and Salads, Vegetable and Side Dishes, Main Dishes, Breads and Rolls, Desserts, Cookies and Candy and This and That) - and we get our submissions in before November 15.
We use the company who printed PHruitcakes in the Kitchen. They now offers an on-line option so everyone can enter their recipes from their own computer.
We design a completely new cover design.
We charge $25, including shipping and handling.
We set up a PayPal option - thanks to Mr. Play - at http://www.partiesthatmatter.org/index. ... -s-Victory.
We raise enough money to give Vicki a head start for her new heart.
We make a difference in the quality of life of one of our own.
Here's the phirst submission:
Best Blue Cheese Dressing Ever - phrom ETP, with a little help phrom Tyler Florence
Equal parts sour cream and Hellman's mayonnaise
6 - 12 ounces of quality Blue Cheese, crumbled - depending on the amount of servings you want
Dash of lemon juice
Dash of Tabasco sauce
Coarsely ground black pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients. Chill. If dressing is too thick, thin it out with a little milk or cream. OMG this is some good stuff!
Having done all the entering for PHruitcakes in the Kitchen I and II, ya'll just have to trust me that this format is 2,000,000 percent easier than everyone e-mail us the recipes, reviewing the recipes, cutting and pasting the recipes onto a program on my computer, putting the recipes onto a disc and sending them into the company. I can't believe how simple this format is.

Click on the "check spelling" option, make any corrections and then click on "preview recipe" and you're done!
If you have problems, e-mail your recipes to Vickster she'll enter them for you. She's the recipe guru, I'm telling you.
Thanks so much.
It feels good to do good.
