I love Jim!!!! He was the same way with us in Vegas last year!!!SchoolGirlHeart wrote:Jim Mayer spent a LOT of time interacting with the crowd behind him.mason wrote:my 2 cents.....
i sat in section 120 behind ralphs right shoulder. jimmy paid little attention to the crowd behind and to his left and right. as someone who has been a standee, i liked the idea of being able to sit thru most of the show, especially when jimmy wasn't going to notice, and the the rest of the reefers paid little attention to what was going on around them.

We were in the very last row of the arena, and the sound there was just awful-when Jimmy talked, we couldn't understand anything!!
It was hard to get a sense of the crowd from there-the people around us were incredibly subdued-I think 90% of them were baffled by the first set since for most of it, they knew nothing!

the sound from a section 120 point a view was the same as you describe. i could hear him fine when he was singing, but when he said something that got a big laugh from the crowd in front of him, i could not hear what he said.ejr wrote:We were in the very last row of the arena, and the sound there was just awful-when Jimmy talked, we couldn't understand anything!!

First of all to "Brown Eyed Girl" I'm glad we didn't spill on you as we were section 209.
The indoor and outdoor concerts seem to have a different energy level. Up on the lawn at Shoreline we all move and dance mostly because there is room to do it. The Arena seats are so close together that standing and dancing means bumping. Our group sat for some and stood for some and if you look at the playlist it made sense. It is nice sometimes to sit back and listen to some of Jimmy's songs.
Our group enjoyed the concert and had a great time and thought the crowd was good and we got "Trip Around the Sun" and "Uncle John's Band"

Re: San Jose Concert Crowd Review
well a couple of years ago in vegas, there was a whole section near the stage to jimmy's left that sat on their hands as well as sitting thru most of the show. they did stand up en masse a few timesfinsup2k wrote:We were at the Vegas show in Section 11, row J, and I noticed that many, many people were sitting during the show. My wife and I stood the whole time, and frankly, I think if you go to a Buffett show and think you'll be sitting down, you s***.The Lost Manatee wrote:Well, my keet and I went to see Jimmy in San Jose on Saturday night and I have to admit that we were both impressed with the seats at the arena. However all we can conclude is that soft seats results in a great many people sitting through the entire show. We were even told to sit down by the people behind us! To me this was shocking, I've never seen such a mellow crowd at a Jimmy Buffett show, not in Denver, not in Phoenix, Irvine, San Diego, Las Vegas or even in Salt Lake City! As far as I could tell the floor and the indoor lawn and the first two sections of the risers were the only active parts of the arena.
I'm sure that some of it was due to the fact that a good portion of the crowd only seemed to know the Greatest Hits and LTC but even so it was really odd to me to have someone suggest that one should sit down during the show.

Double AMEN on both these points. With a few exceptions (I'm talkin to you Balcony Girls), people don't really NEED to see Jimmy. If you do, bring a picture. You are at a MUSIC concert, you can sit and listen to him if you like, even if someone is blocking your view.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:I don't think there's anything wrong with sitting yourself, as long as you don't expect those in front of you to sit...aparrotheadindenver wrote:Another 2¢ worth…
If you like to sit or make others sit during a concert, go see your local symphony.
Maybe they should sell dance floor tickets and have a huge pit down in front. Thoughts?

San Jose Crowd
Well, I took my 16 y/o to her first concert with me Thought it would be a cool mother daughter experience. We drove in from Oregon....fun stuff! I had just returned from the Vegas concert - a killer gift from some family members. My daughter had a full beer poured on her by the sloppy drunk behind us who had only got tickets from an employee sale.... His tickets cost him $25, mine in the same section at a pre sale $142.00 ea. The whole section sat with the exception of a few (maybe 6) true PH's... section 115
Vegas was awesome..... San Jose, I believe I will pass on from now on. It makes me sad to say that as I was born and raised in the Bay and just recently moved out of state but my people let me down I will however find a way to see JB each year, god willing! So far not much has stopped me from going..... passed a kidney stone at a shoreline concert, my son broke his leg on one concert day ( I made sure I left him in good hands while I was gone) missed my best friends wedding (that I was supposed to be in) It would take alot to keep me away.....

The incompetent Arena staff did not provide a wheelchair for me and we had to check mine downstairs and I walked the rest of the time. There is no way I could have stood the entire time, no matter how much I wanted to. Luckily I was right next to a railing so I could hang on when I needed to. Everyone was certainly very nice around us tho...no beligerent drunks or people telling folks to sit down. When folks stood...everyone stood. When some sat down, rows behind followed. Maybe we had the ultra courteous section. It was good for me, so I can't complain, but I sure am sorry that other folks had to deal with rude people.
Sorry.. I didn't have a ticket...

If you had been there they might have run out of Corona early and there wouldnt have been as many belligerent drunks. its your fault Paul.MICHIPHIN wrote:Sorry.. my 2 cents ( before taxes)
since I decided to hit the show at 8pm on friday night, I flew to sacramento and drove over with 3 other guys, and since our decision was so last minute, we had to take whatever tickets that were available.... I purchased a $50 tix in section 202 from a guy who was going with his kids, my friends went to the ticket window at 8pm at the start of the show and purchased 3 tix on the floor 37 rows back for $70 each.......I got to my section and was flying solo and as the jungle intro music came on I was the only person standing up and was told by a nice lady 3 rows back to sit down since she could not see, I asked her when I could stand up and she said when the music came on, so when "piece of work" was blaring I was the only one standing, so rather than be rude, I took my blowup corona beach ball with me and advanced to the floor about row 36, I picked a row where there was plenty of seats available and I stood up the whole time and took in another Buffett experience....it will be my last shark tank concert due to the crowd being a lil less than enthusiastic
that being said......aloha to all
Thats funny. I was at one of the club bars downstairs by section 109 when someone walkedout and passed by the bar as he exhaled. Talk about a contact high!
We were wondering where you took off to Corey.
I thought the crowd was very energized and as vocal as the last two Vegas shows I have been to. We go to a lot of concerts besides Buffett and I rank this as one of my favorite experiences.

Sweetie, you're never a beligerant drunk (at least not with me) and I would have been thrilled if you were there. It would have been like Vegas all over again. And I think Corey's right, they would have run out of Corona early...and that would have been a whole different problem.MICHIPHIN wrote:Brown Eyed Girl wrote:It's funny...I keep hearing different stories from different sections, it appears that the crowd was rather diverse. IN LV had very good luck and scored awsome seats. (3rd row) The guy in front of me (probably a casino comp) was not a huge Buffett fan. He did not like me singing along and whisling along during the encores to get Jimmy back on stage. He wanted me to mellow out, but I enjoyed myself anyways!!! Those people who want to sit etc... need to listen at radiomargaritaville or just accept us fans who are are having are best time.
