Back in the Studio Soon

Post by phjim »

Jimmy and the Coral Reefer Band will be back in the Shrimpboat Sounds studio in Key West in a couple weeks to record a new album. A reliable source says Sonny Landreth will be there as well.

All I have to say is that if the horns don't play on this CD I WILL NOT BUY IT! This was the ONLY thing I was disappointed about with LTC (Country or Not, it still needed the horns)

I guess we can expect an October release, which will then get postponed until Christmas.

Wow Sid, new to the board and already catching on. LOL. I hope they get it out quick before summer, but we know that won't happen.

I was just wondering when JB and the CRs would be getting back into the studio again. WoooHooo! And the life cycle of Margaritaville continues..... :wench:

Sonny has been a fantastic addition to the CR's. That guy ROCKS overtime! That combined with Doyle and Peter and you have the BEST show around period.. :D

i just hope there is some more carribean flavor on this one.more steel drums and horns! and yes sonny is a great player but pete mayer is all the band needs.his efforts as well as roger guth's on the off to see the lizard, fruitcakes, barometer soup and banana wind albums is undeniable.

Horns? I don't mind horns on a Buffett record but excluding a particular kind of instrumentation isn't going to stop me from buying it.

I'm glad to see Sonny Landreth along for the ride again, I hope Buffett decides to keep Billy Payne (Little Feat) around for this one too. It would also be nice to hear some harp return to the mix as well even if it isn't Fingers. As far as Caribbean sounds, those are fine too as they've always been part of the Buffett sound but by the same token I hope they don't dominate the proceedings.

an album like fruitcakes or barometer soup would be incredible!i'll i have to say is use the talent that already exists within in the band.there doesnt really need to be any other outside writers.jimmy seriously has some of the most talented musicians and writers out there and for the most part they have had very limited roles on the last 2 efforts.

No doubt there will be "Hoot" songs, but I hope that it is more than a "Soundtrack" CD.

As said above, something with the flavor of Fruitcakes would be nice.

We could use some humor in the world right now.

To my knowledge the only other person in the band that's penned any lyrics is Mac. I have no problem with his writing whatsoever but I'd love to see Buffett rise to the occasion once again even if it means collaborating with Mac or perhaps even working with the likes of Jerry Jeff Walker again.
