it was. and it was a good show. My folks were across the arena behind "the Porch of Indecision" when he did the encore "We Are The People"LIPH wrote:I was at the Schott 2 years ago, for an indoor venue it was pretty nice.RinglingRingling wrote:That's more than Columbus has had... dammit, I want one in my backyard rather than this 100 miles to Cinci thing... Labor Day
And back in the day he played GW like clockwork on Labor Day weekend. The the Deutsche Bank Golf Challenge came in once they built a huge course right down the street from GW. Now they rent out the GW parking lot for attendees. Nothing against golf, but there's better ways to use a parking lotToplessRideFL wrote:Back in the day.... I kinda was think this might be the case-since I also was waiting for that ticket announcement.
I'm just happy he'll be at GW this year period.

I guess I should have been more precise: Where else would he go for Labor Day Weekend THIS YEAR?RinglingRingling wrote:I've heard mention of San Francisco once or twice...BFA wrote:Mots wrote:I have this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach neither are on tap for Bubba this year.
I would be surprised if he didn't come down here.
Where else would he go for Labor Day Weekend?

It was Labor Day Weekend in '04 because I was there and have a crazy story to go along with it:LIPH wrote:There was a Jones Beach show in 2004 but there weren't any shows in 2003 or 2005. One show in the last 3 years.RinglingRingling wrote:Umm... no. I think Jones Beach had a concert in 2004, I remember it being one of those weeks where if I had wanted to burn all my vacation buffer, I could have seen him in Cinci, NYC, and Boston. Tho lack of sleep could be throwing my memory off.LIPH wrote:Except for a couple of benefit shows and a 4 song appearance on the Today Show, NY's only had one show in the last 3 years. We're getting one, count it, one, this summer. I think we're more overdue than Florida.
I was in my 1st semester of law school in Orlando with a direct flight to NYC that Friday evening. Well, Hurricane Francis was scheduled to make landfall on Friday and MCO (Orlando airport) cancelled all flights after 12:00pm.
So, I called Delta on Thursday after I found this out after my last class and said I needed to be in NYC this weekend - they said they could get me up another weekend and I told them that I had to be there this weekend because I had all the tickets to the show and I was going.
She found only overbooked flights in FL and I told her to keep searching North and West. At first she said there was no room on any flights out of Atlanta and I said to keep searching North and West, but then said there was a last minute seat cancellation in Atlanta. I told her to book it and then I packed and started driving to Atlanta shortly after; classes were cancelled Friday also.
Of course, everyone and their cousin from Miami was trying to get out of FL so it took me probably twice the amount of time to get to Atlanta than it should have. I arrived at the airport at 4am and was surprised they let me check in. I went to the gate and crashed. Woke up for my afternoon flight (w/ a connection in Chicago) but arrived in NYC 2 hours before I was originally scheduled to.
Flew back Monday afternoon and started driving back from the airport when I started driving into the hurricane (was like that scene in Twister) so I checked into a hotel and crashed in GA. Got to Orlando the next day, classes were cancelled, and just felt lucky that my Labor Day Weekend wasn't spent in a hurricane, but rather in NYC with a Buffett show.
The weekend was awesome, stayed in Manhattan at the DoubleTree on 42nd or 47th and Broadway. Took a limo with all of my friends to Jones Beach and back.
My only gripe was about the venue: no alcohol and no lawn (we were outside but tickets were 3x's lawn seat price and not close to the stage). But, I had a blast nonetheless.

You know I did feel bad for those other places, the last few years. And this is the only place we can go to share our loss with others of the like mind who can relate to a year with no tour dates. So I'll say again....HE HAS to play Florida.

Am I dodging the tour?
All I know is, I'm living in Florida right now with plans to move back to California in June/July. Bubba is playing in San Francisco tonight and then heading East. If I miss him this year (which will be 2 years in a row!) I'll be REALLY bummed. I'm hoping some of you who are talking about a 2nd round of shows out West this fall are right!

That means October or November tour dates to support the new CD. It will happen.
And Topless...
Hope you got room at the pre concert phlocking for a frost bitten Canadian boy

FL in November
I cant see him skipping the state, November sounds like a plan, I just hope that we dont have any late season storms again like last year. And we aren't whining down here, just starting to get a little nervous.
