The 5th of May is when there is a 'get acquainted' dinner with everone from E's office. :)

Will be celebrating Cinco De Mayo the same way I have in years past. Doing nothing to honor the day.

today was Nothing from a Gringo day in Mexico....Cinco De Mayo we are gonna celebrate nothing from a Mexican day. No Coronas, Pacificos or tortilla chips for us, notice I was nice and avoided the use of slang, unlike our neighbors to the south. Now that I think about when we go to Cabo later this year, think I will hold on to my tip money

That is about as low as you can get. How do you know the servers's opinions on things, or if they took part in any marches, and yet you want to withold part of their wage because you don't like what other Mexicans are doing.

If you hate Mexicans so much, why even go to their country? Please....stay home.
Well I’m a tidal pool explorer

Biggest weekend of the year here...always the first weekend in May..

On an island of 10,000 people, with a weekly newspaper....we have between 120,000 and 180,000 people descend on us.

Hmmmmm.....

Maybe I should leave! 8)

Yeah, clearly it says I hate Mexicans....you on dope?

so I cannot individually protest against "nothing from a gringo day" in Mexico by reducing the amount of American dollars I pump into their economy without you claiming I hate Mexicans? Get a grip

Fact is you just underhandedly labeled me a racist. A claim you wish to back up with facts? apologize for? or lacking the backbone to back up and or apologize for, edit your post? Now lets see what you're made of. My hunch is you will scurry to have this thread deleted. You're credibility and character are now up for public opinion.

If you were refusing to buy things from Mexican producers or companies, then you could make that claim. However, you arent' doing anything to them. You are still staying at the hotel (paying the bill I assume), buying the food and drink. The companies get their profit.

What you are doing is choosing to hurt an indivdual Mexican that may or may not support this.

If you felt that strongly you'd change your vacation plans. At the very most, if you aren't racist, you are cheap and looking for an excuse to stiff the servers because you are cheap.

And I never asked for a thread to be deleted. I never will. I will stand by what I say. I am not worried about my crediblity.

How strongly I feel or don't is not a matter for you to decide nor pass judgement on. How I chose to boycott is matter for me to decide, not for you. If I chose to withhold tip money it not only effects a group, for tips are shared, it also effects the base economy as there is less to be pushed back into the local economy. Risk taken by a market that pays its workers so poorly to rely upon the tourist dollar. And as luck would have it, we are flying an American owned airline, fishing an American owned boat and staying at a hotel that is a partnership that includes...Americans....consider yourself educated.

Shame on you for so easily tossing the racist buzzword into the mix. Unfortunately it reflects poorly on your critical thinking ability and your credibility not to mention your character. Typical of those who cannot connect the dots how quickly they resort to name calling.
The cheap crack I can live with, it's yer opinion based solely on some idiotic notion you conjured up in your troubled mind.
You've not offered any fact to your racist claim, not offered an apology for your baseless claim and not edited your post. Is this evidence of your pattern when asked to back a charge? Is this a reflection of your inflexibility? Is your ego that important to you that apologizing for a baseless claim of racism proves to devestating? Stand up and be a man.
