Need some Kinky advice
I am trying to decide whether to take a couple of days off from work to see JB play in Austin for the Kinky Friedman for Governor campaign. Can anyone tell me what to expect? For example,
1) Has he done a full concert for any politicians before?
2) Will he bring a portion of his band?
3) Will he play an entire set?
4) Will he leave the SYKBH songs at home?
I know he has played at political events before, but this is billed as a separate concert. I seek your collective wisdom.

I seriously doubt the Coral Reefer Band will play this event - the venue only holds 1,250 people.
It is likely to be the 2-piece 'beach band' he uses for the restaurant openings or might even be an acoustic solo show. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Kinky or Jerry Jeff join him onstage for a song or two.

save most of the really "out there" stuff for a hotel room, registered in another name and paid-for in cash....

I'm thinkin' this is a fundraiser for a political candidate. It's no time to dig up the old tunes. I'd expect to hear only SYKBH plus BEG and Southern Cross.
He played a political show in Florida two years ago I think. I'd try to find that setlist and I'd betcha it'd be pretty much the same.
Just my two cents.
Or is that not the kind of Kinky y'all wanted?

Great point. Just the chance to see Kinky with Jimmy or Jerry Jeff makes it worth the trip. I would actually prefer an accoustic show, especially if he plays some of the rare songs.tthorn wrote:I seriously doubt the Coral Reefer Band will play this event - the venue only holds 1,250 people.
It is likely to be the 2-piece 'beach band' he uses for the restaurant openings or might even be an acoustic solo show. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Kinky or Jerry Jeff join him onstage for a song or two.
As for the rest of the advice, I'm not sure I can get the girlfriend to "go there" but I will do my best.
