Mailboat Records has posted some information on the new album.

Take The Weather With You returns Buffett back to his country foundation with breezy ballads, interpretations of alt-country songs, a version of Merle Haggard's "Silver Wings" and mariachi horns in "Cinco De Mayo In Memphis." A tribute to the historic bars along the Gulf Coast in "Bama Breeze" is flavored with sublime Southern riffs, and Buffett fulfilled a dream of playing with Mark Knopfler, who wrote and guests on "Whoop De Doo."

Buffett reinvents Mary Gauthier's "Wheel Inside The Wheel" with swampy rhythms crafted by Lafayette, Louisiana slide guitarist Sonny Landreth. "That song summed up the French Quarter when I was 18 years old," Buffett said. "Without realizing it, I went to my roots on this record. It's not a stretch for me to do country music."

On Take The Weather With You, he takes a philosophical look at the devastation of the Crescent City in the ballad "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On," which Buffett wrote with former drummer Matt Betton. "When the storm hit New Orleans, I was performing at Wrigley Field in Chicago" said Buffett. "I go back to the emotions I was feeling on stage there during the biggest show of my life. That spilled over into this record. People still don't understand the devastation along the Gulf Coast. I was angry and started writing about it, but Matt sent me the first makings of 'Move On' and that calmed me down."

Take The Weather With You combines a variety of styles and sounds from Nashville, New Orleans and Key West. It's a smooth sail for Buffett.

"Going back to his country roots"......I know I'm in the minority but that doesn't excite me greatly. I'd prefer he'd get back to the the beach/Caribbean. We just did the country thing with "License To Chill". But....I will reserve total judgment until 10/10.

I love Jimmy's country sound.....and I'm SO looking forward to this album!! And besides, Jimmy's country sound will still have Robert there somewhere, so beachy/country is a probability!

I think the "country roots" is there solely for marketing purposes...it's being released through country channels, singles on country stations, etc. (Still leveraging the airplay window created with "5 O'clock...") The collaborator list is nothing like LTC, so I'd expect it's more about trying to pull a country audience towards Buffett vs. Buffett going more towards country.

great... more goat-ropin' spasmatics to compete with for tickets; ones who will bail as soon as they hear "5 O'Clock" or what they think of as "Kenny Chesney Music"...

That is some seriously sound logic, Q&S. Yeah, TTWWY doesn't look anything like License To Chill - an out-and-out country record piggy-backing on "5 O'Clock." But in the business part of his brain, Jimmy is not about to neglect entirely the fans brought on board by LTC. And Mac McAnally, as co-producer, is on hand to ensure - among other things - that the country songs are done right.

Yep, I agree with both of you.

Is it October yet?

It's on the second disc, a DVD that includes the "Here We Are" video. Included by popular request from BuffettNews

(at least I hope it is...)

sure it would, about as much sense as doing A Salty Piece of Land tour and not playing the song :D

Track 15 according to Amazon
I'm close to that coronary anyway, this almost pushed me over....

I'd be more than happy to have it be on a separate disc with the video footage too.

Barnes & Noble has it listed as track 15 too. Right after all the other songs, in the same order, as Mailboat has them. I'd have thought Mailboat would be the correct one, what was I thinking? :o

I'll breathe in and breathe out, but I'm not movin' on until I hold the disc in my hands and am listening to Here We Are!! 8)

Thanks for your support!

Guess Mr/Ms Monkey hasnt really been studying Mailboat, and relying on its statements......

At this point, I'd believe most anyone ahead of Mailboat
