concert tickets...how does this work?

Post by PIR8-4T »

For the Santa Barbara concert both my brother and I tried ticketmaster as soon as tickets went on sale and, of course, neither of us got tickets. I just happened to find 243 different tickets for sale for this concert on a Las Vegas tickets website. How can they get that many tickets in the first 20 seconds of tickets going on sale? Any ideas out there?

I've always had success with ticketmaster, but for JB, you do have to be quick...his shows shows always sell out fast.

(And you should have your ticketmaster account set up in advance. )

honestly, I believe the brokers have an inside track. They must be able to buy from Ticketmaster, at an elevated price for sure, before the tickets go on sale to the public. There isn't much else that can explain how they end up with so many.

Also, most of the the for Buffett and big 'draws' Corporations buy the best tickets and suites which are provided from TM as a inside track, in return for their sponosrship, etc.

As soon as the Tampa Buffett show sold out, on the craiglist here in Tampa there 10 brokers with 10 lawn seats each, and 5 brokers with 4 pav seats themselves. They have the $$$ to shell it out, and in the end we have to pay.

And many times people who have a season pass to these venues, sell off certain parts that they will never use.

Santa Barbara is a VERY small venue. No doubt it would go fast...

Keep checking ticketbastard, they'll usually release some unused band/sponsor seats closer to the show date.

Honestly I think it's jerks selling to scalpers, or scalpers with season tickets that are doing it. It's a sheer numbers game- if you have 15 people trying for the max, at least some will get through- and most share the tickets in the same "pool" so there might just be 10 lawn and 4 pavilion seats total, rather than 100 and 20.

I would wait til the week of the show and use the ticket exchange.
