Would a fiddle work for JB?
I've been listening to Jessie Winchester a lot lately and it got me thinking
(dangerous, I know). Jessie's recordings have a great sound and that sound
frequently includes a fiddle in the arrangements...
What do you think about Jimmy using a fiddle player from time to time?
Has he ever used one in the past? I can't recall hearing any...

I'm hoping it wouldn't head toward "orchestral" (that's why I chose to usephjrsaunt wrote:Even BEFORE Jake started playing eukalele, I'd have said SURE! Would go especially well with the bluegrassy arrangements, as well as more "classical" arrangements. Who knows, Jimmy may go "orchestral" on us one day
the word "fiddle") but that might even be OK if it was a rare occurance.
The "big band" sound has been fun, and the bluegrass sound too... so why not?
I just can't see operatic or heavy hip-hop though.

Being a fan of bluegrass, I think that there are some songs that it would work on.
Maybe Great filling station Holdup,or Peanut Butter Conspiracy?

I'm in the hear it first and see how it goes crowd. I can think of some great fiddlers that may be able make it work and then some that it wouldn't do well with. I think Natalie McMasters would be able to make it work, as an example.
Or he could get someone like Jean Luc Ponty or Valerie Vigoda who play more of a jazz style violin but both can certainly make it sound like a fiddle.
