Key West w/ Keets???
My wife and I have started to plan our annual pilgrimage to Disney, instead of doing 8days 7nights there I'd like to do 5/4 and then the remaining days at KW. It's been awhile since I've been there, I was still single last time and I wasn't checking out what there is for the kids, so my question is what is there to do. Older one will me almost 9 and the younger one will be 3 1/2 in April. This is not set in stone, I just wanted another option as it seems I always need a few more days off when I return from Disney.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do So throw off the bowlines Sail away from the safe harbor Catch the trade winds in your sails Explore Dream Discover

they pen them on Stock Island...PartofthePhlock wrote:Why, I don't think, in the past 8 years I have gone to KW, that I have even seen a kid on the island. I think you have to check those at the bridge.
Disney sounds like fun. Enjoy your holiday.

Well, certainly not for Fantasy Fest. We brought our keet ( she's 10) to MOTM & we all had a blast. Plenty to do during the day. We did stay up late for JJW & Jim Morris though. We were back @ the hotel early most nights before the real freaks came out. Going to MOTM a few days early next year for some more sightseeing. We did the same, Key West & then Disney the following week.citcat wrote:As long as it's not Fantasy Fest or MOTM week, it's ok. Besides there are cool museums (that pirate museum, for one) and boat rides and stuff. And you can rent one of those fancied-up golf carts and scoot around town, they'll love that.

I would suggest taking the keets to the aquireum. You can watch sharks go into a feeding frenzy!
Now where else are you going to see something like that and not be in the middle of it ?
I will give you one piece of advice though. If you want to eat some conch fritters do it BEFORE you make the trek to the aquirium....on the tour they show some conch in a way that you may not be used to seeing it. Some people have trouble eating it after that.
and not being able to eat conch would be shame.

You will be fine. I take my kids there at least once every 2-3 weeks or so. So much that last week my 8 year old charted her own course and after getting underway handled the helm pretty much all the way to Ft. Zach and around the bend to the bight. Spending time on the island with kids is no different than anything else, and the kids usually end up choosing where we eat anyway.
I will only assume that since you are spending a few days in mouseville that you will be driving down from there. If that's the case, then you will pass a few things that the kids will get a kick out of along the way.

Hey Z man....speaking of Mallory Square that reminds me.... is it just me or is it a little ironic that an escape artist is still locked up in jail ?z-man wrote:Keet friendly KW activities:

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar
