Florida Keys Accomodations. Anyone ever stayed at.......
Parmer's Resort in Little Torch Key, Bahia Honda State Park, Holiday Isle Resort in Islamorada or at Sugarloaf Key. Would be interested in any info regarding these places or other first-hand experiences in places you stayed near these areas.
Considering a mid May trip.
Thanks!!!

The park is considered one of the best beach camping spots in the WORLD!! Reservations manditory.
Quiet and peaceful, it's quite a contrast from Holiday Isle.
Holiday Isle is a mix of a bunch of older hotels all at the same spot, and is undergoing major renovation.
At least five bars, a great fishing boat fleet, and a tiny man-made swimming beach.
FL Regulars know not to pay more than $60 a night in May for a $299 room.
Just show up without reservations, ask for their best walk-in rate.
I paid $79 this past Christmas, but refused to pay $229 for the same room this past Feb. You get spoiled I guess.
High season ends after Easter, so you will do fine as a walk-in.
Local residents hate the place, it's a major drinking stop for travellers to Key West. Lots of really nice choppers parked there most days.
Tip: The Chevron station in front by the road is owned by them.
Plenty of cold brew available, free ice for guests, the best "bar" on the premises if you ask me!
Sub hundred dollar room? Ice cold 12 packs? No wonder we stay there at least once a year!

I have a friend who stayed at Parmer's and loved it.
We've stayed not far away at the Tucker Inn Cottages on Cudjoe Key a couple of times and loved it.

A couple of years back I camped out in a tent just north of the Seven Mile Bridge.
There is a cool little joint there called Porkys with great Buffettesque music by Rocketman at night.

Well guys, thanks for your responses but the good Doctor and his wife totally switched gears and now we're doing a cruise May 14 through the 18th instead.
We'll be on the Royal Caribbean Majesty of The Seas stopping in Nassau, Key West & Coco Cay Island. We've done this same itinerary before but this time we're gonna try it a little more sober! Well, maybe not in Key West!
But I have filed away the Keys info for future trips.

Last January I noticed some gutted rooms at the two story building (the old Ho Jo's) that are attached to the new office at the north-eastern area of the complex. I assumed they were re-doing the rooms in that building slowly.chalksoperations wrote:Took my daughter and her friend to swim at Holiday Isle this weekend. Word is after the spring traffic pushes on up the road, the hotel will be a tear down.
Are they tearing down the tall main building and re-building from scratch?
Sounds like the end of the $59 walk in rates to me !

Word around the chumbucket is as soon as the last of the spring breakers roll out things will start coming down.
