IMHO...it is much better on the album...not bad live.SonofASonofASailor wrote:How is Piece of Work live? I love the song on the album but does it still work live?

I do not want to hear:
License To Chill
Conky Tonkin'
Hey Good Lookin'
I'm seeing a pattern here. I don't mind "Piece of Work" as long as I don't have to see or hear Toby Keith. Jimmy should do it with Will Kimbrough. The original with Will and Tommy Womack is great! I'm also not real found of some of the stuff I have heard on the Live in Texas cd. Would not want to go to a Buffett show and hear "All My Ex's Live in Texas".

Yep...that's how I feel. Oh - that and I LOVE when he does Dead songs. But that's kinda off topic, huh?citcat wrote:See ? THis is what makes the world go around. Some of the songs ya'll DON'T like, are my favorites. And probably vicey-versa !

I don't remember the exact wording, but it has to do with a slogan Jimmy saw painted on the underside/crossbeam of a bridge by some teenager. Complete with misspellings, and the like. His comment had to do with the quality of education, not that he personally hates math.Staredge wrote:Nope. Musta missed that one.RinglingRingling wrote:you've never heard the "backstory" on the song, then..Staredge wrote:That never made sense to me. That's EXACTLY how I feel, right down to the Dead tunes. I can sit here all day and say that I'd rather not hear the "Great 8" and hear different songs instead, but once I'm in the show, and it doesn't matter if I've been in the lot for six hours or six minutes before the show, I'm having too good a time to care. Do I hate the "salt, salt, salt" chant? You bet...until I'm one of the 20,000 doing it.Little Miss Magic's Mama wrote:Yep...that's how I feel. Oh - that and I LOVE when he does Dead songs. Margaritaville. Can't stand the live "party" version. Go back to the laid-back original....
I'm gonna take some heat for the next one....
"Son of a Son..." w/Nadirah singing. All due respect to Ms. Shakoor, I didn't come to hear her singing lead on a JB song - I came to hear the man. She's got a great voice, but the song's not "Daughter of a Son...."
You may fire when ready, Gridley.

Actually, although I like what she brings to the song, I can see your point. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to sitting on the fence for this song.

Actually, I figure JB is allowed to sing whatever he feels like singing, and me, well I feel like I will like it whatever it is he sings, since I will be there, I can't ever remember leaving a Buffett Concert saying, that sucked. Where in Life can you go where almost everyone is happy, having a good time, and making memories. Salt, salt, salt, BEG, bring them on.

hehehehe....i think it's an ag school thing. "Let me let me let me" was a singing tradition at our fraternity......(along w/ some other weird stuff, like "if that ain't country, you can kiss my a$$", "Shook me" by AC/DC--in your skivvies, EVERYONE, and "Ireland" by Garth Brooks) and "Salt salt salt" was the norm anywhere in town......along w/ the "additional" lyric comments for "Sweet Caroline"......PJ wrote:For me the "salt salt salt" part of M'ville live reminds me of something that you would hear at a college town bar when it is played by a cover band. When I was at Auburn, it seemed like every time a band at a bar played "You Never Even Call Me By My Name" you could count on hearing "And I'll hang around as long as you will let me (let me, let me, let me).
So, yeah.......it's dumb but I do it anyway and grin like a goofball. More b/c i'm remembering other silly times and people.
Haven't been to a JB concert yet, so can't compare songs....
"Be good and you will be lonesome....be lonesome and you will be free. Live a lie and you'll live to regret it....That's what living is to me."

Jumping to the end and I hope nobody has mentioned this but MATH SUCKS! and I really mean MATH SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS in all versions. Jimmy plays the staples for the few that are not true Parrott Heads at each concert aka (SYKBH) but he always throws the true fans a bone with at least one song or version of a song at each concert, and that's what makes me listen here, with all my Buffett Family, to every live show!
