2008 NHL Season

Re: 2008 NHL Season
That's just so strange to see Boston in first place. This is a bizarre year.
Well they won't win the Cup, of course...
Sakic should quit. What an idiot.
Hey! Alexander Ovechkin!
Not so sure if the Blackhawks were to win the Cup making a difference. I think they just need to win more in general to make a difference. They still always have better seasons than the crappy Bears though - what a horrible team. They're gonna back into the playoffs again. I hope they miss out.

You don't think someone sticking their hand in a snow blower (or a lawn mower or whatever) while it's running isn't an idiot? What is he then - a genius? We are on the same planet right?

And it's called an ACCIDENT. The power was off, but the blades were still running.

Re: 2008 NHL Season
On a Blackhawk note....
They equalled 8 wins in a row, the first time since 1981 and 1971... Now they travel to Minnesota on Sunday... Will they be able to make it 9?
I'm happy to see this team winning, they're a young team and one of the fastest out there. They also have a lot of heart.
Should be a fun Winter's Classic between the two rivals (hope the Hawks win though

Re: 2008 NHL Season
As I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, the Hawks will always hold a special spot in my heart. Mikita, Hull, Magnuson, Hall, Esposito..
But I love my Avs!!

Re: 2008 NHL Season
Sid Vicious: Are there different standards for superstars and mere mortals? Atlanta head coach John Anderson seems to think so.
He's upset that the Penguins' Sidney Crosby received only a minor penalty for delivering what boxing fans would recognize as a low blow to the Thrashers' Boris Valabik.
"Here's the weird thing," Anderson said. "If he had punched him in the face, would he have gotten five minutes (for fighting)? A punch to the groin, is that two minutes? I'm going to have to phone (NHL vice-president) Colin Campbell and get a verification on that rule."
Anderson went on to note Valabik was engaged in a wrestling match with Kris Letang when Crosby struck.
"I thought (Crosby) deserved more, because Boris was engaged with another person. I think (he was) the third man in. But I'm not the referee, and I can't decide what the rules are."
Valabik said he didn't feel the blow, but heard about it from teammates, and he watched it on video.
"I've never seen anything like that before," the Thrashers defenceman said. "When I saw it on the video, I felt embarrassed for Crosby a little bit. If that's the way he plays hockey, that's all right. It was what it was. That's what he did. I don't really want to comment on that too much. It's kind of embarrassing."

Re: 2008 NHL Season
I don't care that much about the blow to the groin, but just the fact that he laid on someone that was "already tied up" should have been grounds for a major PLUS A SUSPENSION... It's clear that Crosby is a "head case" that doesn't know the ettiquite of rules for fighting in the NHL
And look at all of the flak that Avery took for his "comments"... This incident does far worse damage to the integrity of the sport

Don't worry....it's OK....the NHL has stuffed the ballot box to make sure their poster boy is starting in the NHL All Star Farce. Bettman the mental midget is ruining this game....Glorfindel7 wrote:I don't care that much about the blow to the groin, but just the fact that he laid on someone that was "already tied up" should have been grounds for a major PLUS A SUSPENSION... I blame THAT on the fact they allow 1000 votes per day... there are just enough "idiots" willing to spend the money or time to vote for himC-Dawg wrote:Don't worry....it's OK....the NHL has stuffed the ballot box to make sure their poster boy is starting in the NHL All Star Farce. I've heard rumors of NHL playing with the numbers.....people voting for players on other teams and seeing the numbers actually go downGlorfindel7 wrote:I blame THAT on the fact they allow 1000 votes per day... there are just enough "idiots" willing to spend the money or time to vote for himC-Dawg wrote:Don't worry....it's OK....the NHL has stuffed the ballot box to make sure their poster boy is starting in the NHL All Star Farce. Re: 2008 NHL Season
I don't know if I buy that... but that would explain how some people with no talent at all would win American Idol? I think because there's so many people voting at one time not all votes get tabulated at the time the votes are madeC-Dawg wrote:I've heard rumors of NHL playing with the numbers.....people voting for players on other teams and seeing the numbers actually go downGlorfindel7 wrote:I blame THAT on the fact they allow 1000 votes per day... there are just enough "idiots" willing to spend the money or time to vote for himC-Dawg wrote:Don't worry....it's OK....the NHL has stuffed the ballot box to make sure their poster boy is starting in the NHL All Star Farce.
