Today Show in Key West cancelled

This was just posted on Tripadvisor from what I'd say a reliable source....since there a few different threads on the subject I thought a new topic was appropriate.

"Because of the developing swine flu story, we have decided to postpone our 'Today Takes A Vacation' trip to San Antonio and Key West. Given the uncertain direction of this story, we are in a better position to cover it fully with all of our anchors, staff and crew at our home base in New York. We have not yet set a new date for the trip, but we look forward to visiting these great cities soon."

Geez, we willing to risk it. Damn..............really everyone shut the doors, close the shutters and run for the islands!!!!

I appreciate you posting this. I hope I don't sound as though I'm doubting your word, but it would be nice to have something a little more "solid" to go on than "a reliable source on the internet" for something this "big."

Google news and the Today show website don't say anything about cancelling the visit, or the performance.

Knowing this group, somebody's bound to be getting ready to head down there so this may really affect their plans.

Does anyone have anything definitive? I'd feel awful if somebody cancelled their travel plans if they didn't have to.

Again, I'm truly sorry if I sounded sceptical, but I felt like it might be better to err on the side of caution for something of this nature.

I for one am heading to the Keys Fri concert or not hoping not to catch anything. This source is from someone who works for Westin in Key West.
It has also been talked about on US1 radio.
I have no idea why it is not posted on Today's website. Maybe someone who watches the show can say what was said, if anything about it.

Their reasoning: They want all their crew in NY so they can better cover the swine flu story. You know that's the hottest story the media has right now; I guess they figure they'll capitalize on it while they can and Key West will still be there.

The Today Show is supposed to be part of the NBC News Division, not Entertainment. Jimmy Buffett being in Key West is not exactly breaking news.

I think some time between November 5-8 would be a GREAT time to reschedule the trip to Key West for the Today Show and for Buffett.
