Boston Hotels....In the City or the Burbs

Looking for suggestions as to either a Downtown Hotel or a "Burb" hotel with easy access to the "T" for the cost of a Buffett Pavilion tick. I'd prefer NOT to have to pay ticketmonster fees on top for my room if I don't have to. OK, maybe JB tick PLUS a Venue beer or two.

Don't need frills, just want the convenience to get to The Freedom Trail & other great areas in the City without having to do any driving (and get raped by parking fees!)

Check out either the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge (short walk to greenline ) or the Cambridge Marriott (Redline stop in building) Not sure of the prices but they'll be cheaper than downtown and fit your criteria.

If it's cost you want to save on, then get a hotel in the suburbs and take the T in. I know there is a hotel (I think a Marriott) in Newton near the Riverside T stop (the last stop on the Green Line).

If you want to stay in the city, the prices are a little steep, probably at least $100 per night. The Seaport Hotel near the World Trade Center is about $130 but it is right next to the World Trade Center Silver Line stop. There are other options, PM me what's the budget, I think I can guide you to the area for it.

If you have an adventurous streak you can try http://www.farringtoninn.com/ . A small cheap hotel. VERY basic. Free Parking. T across the street. We've stayed twice after going to Bruins games and it was a decent, clean place to sleep it off.

if you are going for the weekend...we found a great place The Club Quarters...it's near the Government Center T and Faneuil Hall and the Docks...i think it's Devonshire Street...we paid less then 100.00 back in Feb.....it's a Private members Hotel opened up to the Public on the weekends!!!

Go on Orbitz and check for hotels in Charlestown MA. 02129. It is part of the city of Boston walking distance to the USS Constitution and about a 1-2 min cab ride from Faneuil Hall/Goverment Center, the North End and the Fredom Trail (Paul Revere's house is in the North End & Old North Church). You can also get the train in Charlestown at Sullivan Sq. T station.

This hotel is actually in Dorchester not South Boston, you cant walk anywhere from this area. If you want to stay in South Boston look in the Sea Port area Westin Hotel, Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel etc. South Boston Sea Port is about a 15-20 minute walk from Downtown Boston/Government Ctr. area.

Sometimes you can get a deal at the airport hotels, too, there's a Hilton, a Marriott, and a Hyatt. And then you can catch the T there and it's only three stops to Fanueil Hall and the tourist areas.

The airport hotels are all usually big $$ and East Boston is an Island but not a nice one, not a thing to do there. Though the Hyatt would be the best bet of them. There are water taxis right out the back door of the Hyatt that will take you anywhere in the Harbor Aquarium, USS Constitution etc. I still say Charlestown is the best bet for money and convience.
