First time concert goer has questions.

Post by bestseller92 »

Hey, it's been a while since I've been on the forum, but I'm back now with tickets to my first Buffett show, row 27 seats to the Frisco, TX concert next Saturday night. Being a total novice, I do have a few questions that I'd appreciate help with. I was wondering how early we need to get to the park (due to time constraints we'll just have to see the show and split) and how bad the parking situation is. I'd also appreciate any other helpful advice you veteran Parrotheads might be able to pass along. Thanks for any help, and we're really looking forward to the show.

There's a bit to read through, but you might take a gander through the "Who's Going To" thread, or ask the folks there who are going. :)

Have fun!! :)

there is usually plenty of parking, but you might have to walk a mile or so to the venue.

By all means get to the parking lot really early and walk around and take it all in. Well that is totally impossible, but...

There will be music of all kinds and the Frisco parking lot is just neat.

The earlier you get there, the better off you will be. As others have said, walk the lots and enjoy the sights and sounds of everybody taking a mental vacation.

Funny, but JB's concert is almost secondary to the events in the parking lots....... :o

Maybe "secondary" is a bit harsh....let's just say that the concert is icing on the cake! :pirate:

Well said.

As others have said. Get there as early as you can. Enjoy the party in the parking lot. Don't be afraid to stop at different tailgates and talk with other PH. I enjoy when folks stop at ours and take a sit. We always have one or two extra chairs for folks to sit in. Relax and just have fun.

As a followup, when we said as early as possible, the gates open at 9 am and there will be many people lined up at that time.

Think I'm interpreting your message as....you need to know how late you can show up and still make the concert, see it, then leave quickly.....right?

The tickets state the show starts at 7:30.....I believe Ilo is opening for him and I'd highly recommend making it in to hear Ilo. That would probably mean giving yourself at least 30-minutes to wait in line to show your ticket and make it to your seat (after a stop at concessions, of course).

When Jimmy doesn't have an opening, the tickets usually say 8:pm....and the show usually gets started pretty close to on-time....8:05-10 (with Jimmy hitting the stage about 8:15)

If you won't arrive until Jimmy is starting, then you'll need more than 30-minutes to wait in line to get in and at concessions. I'd give yourself almost an hour.....so then you might as well show up early enough to see Ilo.

Now, parking, arriving late in the day will mean parking further away....if you park at the far North end of the complex, you'll have quite a walk....but if you're in a hurry to get out, parking on the outer banks may help with your escape. Or maybe you could park somewhere in downtown Frisco, catch a taxi to the venue, then hope there are taxi's right after the show too.

BONUS: If you park on the far end, to have a quick exit, you'll get to meander through the lots before the show and on your way out, see the PHUN!!

Ooh, ooh, WAIT....Here's a thought
take a look at the Cinci and Indi threads ...the last two concerts....I think Ilo opened for both, so scan though the first 5-8 pages of each, convert the time to Central (as both were in Eastern) .....though I can't tell you what time the tickets listed....you will still have a good idea of when you'd HAVE-TO be there in order to catch Jimmy.

It was my experience at the Ft. Lauderdale concert a few months ago that the later you got there, the closer the parking spot. Reason is that closer to concert time, people start breaking down their tents that were taking up all the extra parking spots. We got there early and parked far away. Then as we were walking to the arena, I was saying to my girlfriend, damn, we could have parked there or we could have parked there. Tried to get her to move the car but she wasn't going for it. I wouldn't do it because of the 1/2 a bottle of tequilla I consumed along with all the landshark. And whatever else people were giving me. But the walk back to the car with all the people singing was almost as much fun as the concert. Bottom line, no matter what time you get there or where you park, your going to have one of if not the best times of your life.

We've been to the last 2 Frisco concerts (and will be there for this one too [smilie=coolup.gif] ). The earlier you get there, the better - most of the parking is in open fields near the venue. Last year the cost was $20 to just park, or $40 to park & tailgate. Getting out of the fields after the concert is an adventure, expect to wait at least a half hour for your turn.

Allow yourself plenty of time to get into the concert. Security was tight last year at Frisco. A lot of seats were empty when concert time arrived and the show started a bit late. My husband and I left early for the concert and we found an alternate entrance so we got in quickly, but several of our friends said they waited in line for 45 minutes to clear security.

You will have so much fun. Last year was the first time we could manage to get tickets to a JB concert. We will definitely be going to Frisco every year from now on. Please stop by the Frisco Feeding Frenzy tailgate if you get a chance. We raise money for charity and we have a lot of fun together. As Pam (BrownEyedGrlTx) said--there are 300+ people planning to attend our tailgate this year. We would love have you stop by and have some fun with us. Whether it is our group or other groups, all of the people tailgating in the parking lots are great and very welcoming to anyone walking by. My husband and I had so much fun just walking around other parking lots and seeing all of the different ParrotHeads having a good time.

Have a great time at the concert on Saturday! I can't believe that it is only 4 days away! These last two days of work are going to drag by. 8)

We were sitting at the bar across the street when the gates opened, so we got in line at the south gate and didn't have to wait at all. The previous year we entered at the east gate and had to wait about 15 or 20 minutes to get in.

The south gate is the one that we used last year too. No waiting for us either. There was a LONG line at the east gate as we made our way to Pizza Hut Park for the concert.
