BN SHOPPING REPORT

Post by KruzinParrots »

First of all I wanted to mention a trend I'm noticing that is happening here on the east coast. Seems that the retail market is going into Spring and not paying as much attention to winter.

I've seen a couple places already putting Easter candy out on the shelves. In addition I'm seeing tropical colored clothing and reasonably sized displays of blenders in a lot of stores.

Have you noticed the same thing or is it just a local thing for us here in PA and OH, NJ and NY?

I stopped at Target today between appointments. I found a neat framed photo of two beach chairs on a tropical beach with the saying: Happiness is where you find it.

Price: $9.99

Since threre is a lot of blue in the print and it is a beach scene I'm going to get it to put up in our first floor bathroom which is done in a seashell theme.

Some of our grocery stores and drug stores started to put out Valentine candy the week before Christmas. I thought seeing it and the cards out on the day after Christmas was rushing it a bit.

I really do think the retail market would make more money if they would encourage people to savor the season more instead of the focus being all about giving gifts on one day and then its all over at midnight!! If they would talk more about keeping the tree up a week longer. Play the holiday music longer etc. Remind people that you can still get together with friends and exchange gifts after the 25th (not everyone has the time(or money) to do it all before then espeically if you are working. Just my opinion.

Visited Borders Books.

Was pleasantly surprised to see a selection of tropical colored mini 1 foot and 2 foot Christmas Trees. They were on clearance at 75% off. Final price was $1.98 and $3.98 They were also selling a hot pink 6 ft tree that was their display tree. I didn't get a price on it.

Anyway, we stopped at their cafe. They have our favorite brand of coffee, Seattle's Best. I saw they had coconut flavoring shots so we got a coffee and an Italian soda flavored with Coconut. Both were very tasty. Hadn't seen that flavor available before. This is now my favorite iced drink!! Next time we are in I'm going to try a coconut flavored coke!! Has anybody had these yet?

At the risk of being accused of 'one upmanship' - I went into Marks and Spencers yesterday and there were small Easter eggs on the checkouts................

I know winter here in England hasnt been good but talk about wishing your life away :-?

Checked with Kohls, Target and JC Penny's. They all said bathing suites were in the back room and we can expect to see them soon here on the east coast.
